The Lumpkin Family Lives On
The Lumpkin Family lives on.The Cold Sassy Players will pres
ent the final in a series of Lumpkin Family shows Sept. 18-20 at
the Commerce Cultural Center. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 11-12, at the cultural center, located
at the corner of Cherry and Bowden streets in Commerce. The
cast needs include a variety of singers to perform Motown,
gospel and country songs, and there are openings for a stage
manager, set builders and others to work backstage. Left to
right are co-writers Susan Stephenson, Beverly Williams and
Dannette Flint.
BJC Alzheimer's Support
Group To Meet August 14
BJC Medical Center Alzheimer’s
Education and Support Group
will meet Thursday, Aug. 14, at
6:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in learning
more about Alzheimer’s Disease
is welcome.
For August, the group will take
a look at the basics of Alzheimer’s
and the stages of the disease.
The group is led by Monica
McGinnis, social work director at
BJC Medical Center.

Lindsay’s Legacy will hold train
ing sessions in August for vol
unteers interested in mentoring
this school year. New mentors
only need to attend one train
ing session, said coordinator Lisa
Stephens.

Nabors Reunion
Set For August 17
The descendants of James Oscar
Nabors will hold their annual fam
ily reunion Sunday, Aug. 17, at the
First United Methodist Church of
Jefferson, 188 Martin Street.
Friends and family are asked to
bring lunch, which will follow the
morning worship service.
All paper products and ice will
be provided by the children of
Oscar Nabors.
Garrett Reunion
Is Aug. 16 At
Nicholson Church
The Garrett family reunion will
be held from noon to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 16, at Nicholson
Baptist Church.
A covered dish lunch will be
served, and everyone is asked to
bring their favorite dish. There will
be a guest speaker after lunch.
The Garrett Family Cookbook
will be available.
Jenny Sellers To Marry
William Lord On Aug. 16
Lamar and Patsy Sellers of

ing marriage of their daughter,
Jennifer “Jenny” Robin Sellers,
to William Dustin Lord, son of
Mike Lord of Commerce and
the late Joyce Lord.
The wedding will be held
at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at
Staghorn Chapel, Nicholson. All
family and friends are invited.
The bride is the granddaugh
ter of the late Alfred “Fats” and
Willie Gary, Commerce; and
the late Joel and Betty Sellers,
Center.
The groom is the grand
son of the late Ed and Vera
Maney, Banks County; and the
late Oscar and Pauline Lord,

Reunion Sunday At

The Crawford-Chitwood
Family reunion will be
held Sunday, Aug. 10, in the
Fellowship Building of Madison
Street Baptist Church. Lunch
will be served at noon.

pictures, newspapers or other
memorabilia they would like to
share. There will be a time of
recognition of those who have
died over the past two years.
