Floyd Allen
Floyd F. Andy Allen, 89, of
Commerce, died Thursday,
Nov. 6, 2008, at his resi
dence.
Born in Madison County,
he was the son of the
late Frank T.J. and Earlie
Seagraves Allen. He was a
member of Rogers Baptist
Church and was a row crop
farmer. Mr. Allen was pre
ceded in death by a daugh
ter, Karen Lynn Allen.
Survivors include his
wife, Ola Mae Barbee
Allen, Commerce; a
daughter, Brenda Watkins,
Commerce; brother, Billy
Allen, Marietta; and a sis
ter, Rebecca Black, Sandy
Springs. Pallbearers were
Royce Brown, Barry Adams,
Earnest Minish, Kevin
Tanner, Boyd Harness and
Buddy McElroy.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, Nov. 8, at
Rogers Baptist Church with
the Revs. Carlton Peters
and Daniel Vestal officiat
ing. Burial was in the church
cemetery.

Donnie Hardman
Donnie Mae Hardman,
86, of Danielsville, died
Friday, Nov. 7, 2008.
A native of Jackson
County, she was the daugh
ter of the late Harber D. and
Olia Shore Sorrow. She was
a homemaker and a mem
ber of Providence Baptist
Church. Mrs. Hardman was
preceded in death by her
husband, Lloyd Hardman.
Survivors include daugh
ters and sons-in-law, Lane
and Roderick Lord, Tina
and Johnny Fitzpatrick; son
and daughter-in-law, Tim
and Sandy Hardman, all of
Danielsville; grandchildren,
Tonya and Johnny Seay,
Josh and Stacy Lord, Joe
Lord, Shaun and Cathryn
Hardman, Kimberly Hard
man; great-grandchildren,
Torrie Bray and Patrick
Hardman.
Funeral services were held
Monday, Nov. 10, in the
chapel of Lord & Stephens
Funeral Home with the Revs.
Albert Vaughn and Dennis
Wester officiating. Burial was
in Ila Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Josh Lord, Joe Lord,
Shaun Hardman, Johnny
Seay, Bobby Hardman and
William Hardman.

Roy Lee Hill, 73, of
Carnesville, died Saturday,
Nov. 1, 2008, at his resi
dence.

Thomas Hobbs
Sue Kennedy
Rev. Thomas Floyd
Hobbs, 84, of Commerce,
died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008,
at Athens Regional Medical
Center.
Born in
Toombs
County, he was
the son of the
late J.F. and
Melia Harrell
Hobbs. He was
a veteran hav
ing served in the United
States Marine Corps during
World War II, and was a
longtime pastor of Temple
Baptist Church in Athens,
as well as several other
churches. The Rev. Hobbs
was preceded in death by
a son, Bill Hobbs; his first
wife, Bessie Mae Hobbs;
and eight siblings.
Survivors include his
wife, Clara Craven Hobbs,
Commerce; daughter, Sherry
Evans, Winterville; stepsons
and spouses, Ken and Sally
Burkett, Evans, Joe and
Cathy Burkett, Athens; sis
ter, Lessie Evans, Stapleton;
five grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Wednesday, Nov. 12,
in the chapel of Ivie Funeral
Home with the Revs. Robert
Johnson and Frank Ledford
officiating. Committal and
Sue Grier Kennedy, 75,
of Commerce, died Friday,
Nov. 7, 2008, at Hill Haven
Nursing Home.
Born in Hall County, she
was the daughter of the late
Hoke Smith and Dorothy
Hulsey Grier. She was a
special education teacher
with Banks County High
School and was a member
of Holly Springs Baptist
Church. Mrs. Kennedy was
preceded in death by her
husband, John C. Kennedy.
Survivors include sons,
Tommy Kennedy and
David Kennedy, both of
Commerce; daughter,
Dorthea Kennedy, Athens;
brothers, Zach Grier and
Andy Grier, both of Holly
Springs; sisters, Mary
Thomas and Joan Wiley,
both of Clermont, Linda
Oliver and Lanna Black,
both of Holly Springs; eight
grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Graveside services were
held Sunday, Nov. 9, at
Holly Springs Baptist
Church cemetery with the
Rev. Terrell Simmons offi
ciating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

Nena
McDougald
Nena Mae McDougald,
95, of Commerce, formerly
of Winder, died Sunday,
Nov. 9, 2008.
A native of Gwinnett
County, she was the daugh
ter of the late Ben and
Carrie Hayes Wilkins. She
was a retired seamstress
and was a member of Cedar
Creek Baptist Church. Mrs.
McDougald was preceded
in death by her husband,
Allen McDougald.
Survivors include sons
and daughters-in-law, Jack
and Clarice McDougald,
Young Harris, Jerry and
Shirley McDougald, Macon;
brother and sister-in-law,
Hoyt and Charlene Wilkins,
Hoschton; four grandchil
dren; and nine great-grand
children.
Graveside services were
held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at
Cedar Creek Baptist Church
cemetery with the Rev.
Shuford Jones officiating.

arrangements.

Jean Williams
Jean Grey Womble
Williams, 83, of Buford,
died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008,
at the Alzheimer’s Care of
Commerce.
Born Aug.
4, 1925, in
Scranton, PA,
she was the
daughter of the
late John and
Nellie Womble.
She was a homemaker most
of her life, worked as a vol
unteer and served as presi
dent of the Athens/Clarke
County Humane Society
and the Hilton Head Island
Audubon Society, was an
avid birder, traveling with
her husband across the
United States and to other
countries on bird-watching
tours. She was also a devot
ed dog lover, having raised
litters of English Bulldogs
and Shih tzus. Mrs. Williams
had lived in Scranton, PA,
Petersburg, YA, Martinsville,
YA, Seaford, DE, Richmond,
VA, Athens, Northern
Ireland and Hilton Head
Island, SC.
Survivors include her chil
dren, Jack Williams, Homer,
and Ann Gleason, Atlanta;
grandchildren, Patrick
Gleason, Annie Haney and
Ellie Gleason, all of Atlanta;
and a cousin, Dorothy
Womble, New York City,
NY.
Private memorial services
were held in Homer.

Bobby Wallace
Bobby Ray Wallace, 76, of
Gainesville, died Monday,
Nov. 10, 2008, at Willow
Wood Nur
sing Home,

an extend
ed illness.
Born in Jackson County,
he was the son of the late
John H. and Wilma Garrison
Wallace. He was a member
of Emmaus Baptist Church
and was a veteran, having
served in the United States
Army during the Korean
Conflict. Mr. Wallace was
preceded in death by his first
wife, Mabel Wallace; sister,
Ruth Peck; brothers, Guy
Wallace, Randolph Wallace
and Dewitt Wallace; broth-
ers-in-law, Dillard Baugh
and Johnny Polifka.
Survivors include his
wife, Barbara Beam

and daughters-in-law,
Ronald Wallace, Keith and
Tammy Wallace, Thad
and Lesia Wallace, all of

at 2 p.m., in the chapel of

officiating. Burial will be in
Emmaus Baptist Church
cemetery in Lula. The family
will receive friends Tuesday,
Nov. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.
and Wednesday, Nov. 12, at
the funeral home.
