Commerce Police Department Arrests
A Few Still Naughty At Christmas
It would not be accurate
to say that the Commerce
Police Department experi
enced entirely peace and
goodwill during the week of
Christmas, but there were
no serious offenses report
ed.
That’s not to say everyone
was on his best behavior.
Officers charged a Spring
Street man with battery
after a dispute with his girl
friend early Monday.
According to the report,
Adam Blake Dills, 22, of
328 Spring Street, was
charged after police were
summoned to a 4:30 a.m.
domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, Dills was not
present, but a 20-year-old
white female told officers
Dills came home intoxicat
ed, woke her up and began
talking about text messages
she’d allegedly received
from an ex-boyfriend.
The victim told police he
grabbed her by both arms,
slammed her against the
wall, threw her to the floor
and held her down, pulled
the blinds off the wall, threw
things about the house and
punched a hole in the wall.
Police found the suspect
at his mother’s house, where
he admitted to having con
sumed 18 beers earlier. He
allegedly told police his girl
friend was “trying to get
back with her ex-boyfriend
behind his back.’’
Others who might be on
Santa’s “naughty’’ list for
next year include:
•five passengers in one
vehicle, all of whom were
charged for possession of
marijuana and violation
of the open container law
after the vehicle was pulled
over for doing 73 miles on
the bypass. The first thing
the officer noticed after
he pulled the car over was
that the driver, Quentin B.
Thomas, 31, 325 Coleridge
Court, Athens, quickly
got into the back seat.
Coleridge then claimed he
had not been driving, the
report said. He was charged
with speeding and driving
with a suspended license.
The occupants, Maurice
Demtrue Callaway, 31, 347
Fairview Street, Athens;
Kerisha Nell Brown, 24, 102
Parkview Homes, Athens;
Laquardra Terria Patman,
19, 157 Englewood Avenue,
Athens; Christopher S.
Robinson, 21, 17 Marie
Court, Athens; and Moses
Solomon Seats, 21, 725
Eagle Crest Drive, Monroe,
were charged with the alco
hol and misdemeanor mari
juana offenses after police
found six open beer con
tainers and a bag of mari
juana. The report said none
of the occupants claimed
responsibility for the alco
hol or drugs.
• Sean Michael McCarthy,
31, 52 Green Street,
Commerce, disorderly
conduct. He was charged
when police responded to
a domestic incident. Upon
arrival, the officer found
McCarthy “yelling and
cussing’’ and a 38-year-old
white female demand
ing that he “get out of my
house.’’ According to the
arrest report, McCarthy
and his wife were having
an argument and a neigh
bor banged on the walls
in protest, at which time
McCarthy, described by
the officer as “intoxicated,’’
went over and confronted
the neighbor. The neighbor
said she called police when
she heard the female say
she “could not breathe.’’
