Today’s Business Woman - Smart, Savvy, Successful
Co-Owner, Giftworks at The Joy Shoppe
Gina started Giftworks, a custom gift basket
business, in spring 2000. In June 2003 she
purchased The Joy Shoppe, a long time Hallmark
store in Commerce. Today, Giftworks at the Joy
Shoppe continues to offer custom gift baskets,
Hallmark products and specialty gift items.
Our merchandise is fresh, unique and only found
in small specialty shops. We print personalized
stationery and invitations on site. We also carry
an extensive line of gourmet confections.
Gina is successful because she listens to her
customers and understands their needs. She stays
informed of gift trends, and adapts to changing
markets. She credits her success to prayer, hard
work, long hours, perseverance and an
understanding, friendly banker!

At Commerce Drug, we believe that each of our cus
tomers are important and we are committed to provid
ing a pleasant, caring environment for each one.
Carolyn's success in business and in her personal
life has been influenced by some great people.
Beginning with her loving parents who taught her by
example and encouraged her to work hard and in so
doing, she could succeed in whatever she chose as my
life's path.
The pharmacy profession has changed a great deal in
the last 32 years, but the reason she chose this profes
sion has not changed. It is still a profession of caring for
those who are sick, discouraged, afraid and in need. If
in any small way she is able to assist in this task she
considers that a success.

Brandy Freeman
Sarah's Restaurant
Brandy has been serving the public since 1977. Sarah's
Restaurant is a reflection of sharing a feeling of family and
enjoying good food. Everything we do and serve is from the
heart and fresh from our kitchen not from the freezer or a box.
We want people to know that when they come into our
restaurant we are genuine about what we serve and how we
are truly happy they have picked us to come to and to share
their time, family and friends with. It is the greatest
compliment to serve them in our restaurant. This experience is
important to us. This is what I believe I have learned in my
lifetime career.
We are located at 6 Homer Street in historic Maysville,
serving fresh home cooked country meals. We serve breakfast
and lunch Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and
Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as dinner on Friday and
Saturday evening.
I truly believe that our atmosphere is correctly phrased "Enter as Stranger and leave as Friends." This
says exactly why we enjoy what we are doing. We are a family business. My husband Gary and his
children Sarah and Ethan love working and enjoy the interaction with our customers. We have life
long friends that visit and have established new lifelong friendships. Our staff and their families are
intricate in our business...they are our extended families. It is a true family restaurant.
I am a successful business person because I CARE. Whatever businesses I have been in I have always
trusted in my faith and have let my heart lead my mind in what I felt was the correct way to lead to a
successful result. I truly care for everyone involved. I feel success follows from there.
