Commerce Police Department Arrests
Busy But Routine Week For Police
Burglars Hit
Commerce Hardware
The Commerce Police
Department reported an
active, if routine, past week,
with 15 arrests.
The most serious charges
came when a Habersham
County man walked into the
police station and turned
himself in on a warrant
from Habersham County.
Howard Jeffery Andre, 40,
no address provided, had
an outstanding warrant for
failure to appear related to
rape and child molestation
charges.
No details on those charg
es were available.
Other Arrests
Others arrested or cited
during the past week
include:
•Terry Eugene Gilliam,
45, 4049 Duncan Road,
Gainesville, arrested on an
unspecified warrant from
Franklin County. He was
a passenger in a vehicle
pulled over for a tag viola
tion.
• Richard Dale Frazier
Jr„ 18, 208 Mt. Moriah
Was it a burglary or just
highly-medicated people
using each other’s drugs?
Officers of the Commerce
Police Department are not
sure, but the Macarthur
Street residence to which
they were summoned is a
frequent stop for police offi
cers.
The first response was
to a domestic incident in
which a 35-year-old white
male complained that a
38-year-old white female
co-resident was “taking
too many pills.’’ The man,
who was “highly agitated’’
and loud, according to the
responding officer, wanted
to kick the woman out of
the residence.
The man put a padlock on
the bathroom door to keep
the woman from getting to
her medications. In turn,
she told the police he had
taken her medication from
her and suggested that the
man might be using it.
The officer diffused the
situation by getting the
woman to agree to leave
Road, Auburn, picked up at
Gwinnett County on a local
failure to appear warrant.
• Kevin Christopher
Vandeford, 19, 192 Fouise
Drive, Commerce, picked
up at the Barrow County
Jail on two city probation
violation warrants.
•Randy Robert Hosch,
44, 1472 Border Street,
hot. 3, Sugar Hill, charged
with loitering and prowl
ing. He was arrested while
walking along U.S. 441
wearing a BJC Medical
Center gown. He had
been taken to the facil
ity for evaluation follow
ing a wreck and left with
the robe, a blanket and a
sheet. He allegedly admit
ted to the officer that he’d
used narcotics earlier and
was afraid of police.
•Benjamin John Haney,
28,1887 Hwy. 98, Maysville,
on a probation violation war
rant from Banks County.
•Jonathan Demond
Beasley, 24, 299 Shankle
Road, Commerce, pro-
for three days, but later
that day another officer
responded to the same
address. That officer
found that the woman had
returned to the address to
gather some belongings,
and a neighbor who was
watching the property for
the man called the police.
The woman told the offi
cer some of her medications
were missing, then left. The
first officer was summoned
back still later that day, and
the male claimed someone
had broken into the bath
room and stolen his meds.
The officer found the bath
room door closed and the
padlock in place, and the
woman told him she did not
enter the house, although
she did retrieve some items
that the man had left at the
front door for her.
The report said the man
was upset and demanded
that the officer arrest her.
The officer’s report said
the man’s roommate told
him that “the two subjects
take each other’s medica-
bation violation. He was
arrested by an officer who
saw him walking along the
road and knew about the
warrant.
•Roberto Carlos Olivo-
Vargas, 32, 4570 Ashmore
Drive, Forest Park, speed
ing (85 on 1-85), driving
without a license and no
insurance.
•Renee Denise
Whittington, 27, 141
Woodpecker Fane,
Jefferson, violation of a lim
ited driving permit. She was
arrested by an officer inves
tigating a “suspicious vehi
cle’’ in the woods behind
Cole Court. The report said
she claimed she was let
ting her overheated truck
cool down, an explanation
the officer didn’t buy. She
also claimed she was on
her way to CVS to pick up
prescriptions, but the offi
cer noted that her driving
permit did not allow that
kind of travel.
•Jose Torres-Onofre,
33, 232 Frederick Drive,
tions all the time.’’
Other Incidents
Other incidents requiring
police attention during the
past week include:

Nunn Road location where
a 61-year-old white male
expressed concern that a
neighbor would shoot live
stock or dogs after three
dogs went onto the neigh

to blame.
