North Oconee
After Thursday’s game
against Jefferson was rained
out, the Eagles traveled to
North Oconee to face the
Titans, who are undefeated in
region play.
Sam Williamson took to
the mound, but he got little
help from his defense as the
Eagles made five errors lead
ing to six North Oconee runs.
That gave North Oconee the
edge they needed to pick up
a 9-1 victory.
Williamson struck out eight
and gave up only two earned
runs in five innings.
“We didn’t make the plays in
the fifth,’’ Gandy said. "That's
where a young team has to
learn how to win, and how to
execute in those tough games.
We’re getting there, but we
still have to learn how to play
with opponents like North
Oconee.’’
East Jackson was sched
uled to take on Jefferson in
a make-up of last Thursday’s
rain-delayed game on Tuesday.
Results were unavailable at
press time.

EJCHS Hosts North Oconee
By Brandon Reed
The rain didn’t do much to
help the East Jackson soccer
teams last week.
The week started out
with a home stand against
Oglethorpe County last
Wednesday where the boys
found themselves on the
wrong end of a 3-0 score for
their fourth loss in a row.
“We played well defensively
but couldn't muster much
offense the entire game,’’ said
coach Matt Miner. “Scott
Hill, Mario Flores and Cody
Adams played extremely well
on defense. Luke Derochers
played a great game in goal
and had multiple saves. Eric
VanDeventer, Jon Love and
Brandon Wise did a great job
controlling the midfield.’’
Results from the girls' game
were unavailable at press
time.
East Jackson was slated to
travel to Hebron Christian,
but those matches were
postponed due to inclement
weather.
Up next is a make-up match
from earlier in the season, as
East Jackson will host North
Oconee today (Wednesday)
at 5:30 p.m.

- Tigers' Golfers Improving Before Region
Continued from page IB
Stephenson said. “We need to at least get
to play one 18-hole tournament before the
region tournament.”
The Tigers’ golfers were due to face Banks
County on Tuesday and Buford today
(Wednesday).
Results from Tuesday were unavailable at
press time.
Commerce hosted the Hebron Lions at
Double Oaks on March 24.
The Lady Tigers beat Hebron 112-120 as CJ
Wilkes and Callie Adams both shot 56.
Chelsey Cain and Haley Chestnut each shot
a 57, while Anna Marie Hooper and Hannah
Patterson each finished the round at 67.
“Our girls continue to improve,” said
Stephenson. “Our girls are hitting the ball
much better but need to continue to work on
their chipping and putting. I really believe we
will break 100 soon.”
Hebron edged the boys by two strokes, 184-
186. Low medalist Casey Drinkard led the
Tigers with a 9-hole total of 41 while Austin
Patterson followed close behind at 43.
Stephenson said both Drinkard and
Patterson played well.
“I was especially happy with Austin's 43,”
Stephenson said. "He has struggled a little
with his game. This is more what I expect of
him although he has not reached his potential.
I really believe he will be in the 30s soon.
Casey is capable of shooting in the mid-30s
and I think he will soon.”
Brandon Coots scored 45 in the round
while Andrew Minish carded a 57.
“Brandon had his career best as did
Andrew," added Stephenson.
