French fries; 1 lb. sweet
corn; 15 oz. Musselman’s
apple sauce; 15 oz. pears; 8
oz. dinner roll mix; 7.5 oz.
mac’n cheese; 32 oz. 2%
shelf stable milk; 1 dozen
eggs and a dessert. This
box of food may be pur
chased for $30. Payment
methods accepted include
food stamps, cash, checks
or money orders. To place

Ministerial Association
will observe National Day
of Prayer Thursday, May
7, at 12 p.m. in Spencer
Park, Commerce. The Rev.
Douglas Lee will be the
guest speaker. Channel 54

Jody Garrison, pastor of
Madison Baptist Church in
Westminster, S.C. “Come
early for best seating, bring
your lawn chairs, parking is
free and concessions will
be available," leaders state.
There is a $5 suggested
donation each, with pro
ceeds benefiting the youth

Athens Free Will
Baptist Church will hold
a singing Saturday, May
9, at 7 p.m. “The Gibson
Family" will be featured.

will sponsor a golf tour
nament Saturday, May 9,
at Hammers Glen Golf
Community in Homer. The
tournament will help pro
vide ministry to the youth
in Homer. Chris Erwin and

lunch will be served to the
players.

Presbyterian Church
holds Sunday school at 10

Homer United
Methodist Church will
join with other churches
in the community in cel
ebrating Mother’s Day on
Sunday, May 10. There will
be a 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
service. The church pastor,
the Rev. Jim McLendon,
will preach at both services
with a message from St.
John 15:1-8 titled “Like A
Mother’s Love." The church
is located on Sycamore
Street in downtown.
Holly Springs United
Methodist Church will
hold a “Mother’s Day
Celebration" Sunday, May
10, at 11 a.m. All mothers
will be honored. Everyone
is encouraged to keep the
church’s tradition of wear
ing a red flower in honor of
mothers and a white flower
in memory of mothers. The
Hancock family has a tradi
tion of beginning their fam
ily reunion with attending
worship at their ancestors
church. Jacqeline Griffeth,
of this family, will pro
vide special music. There
will be no Sunday school.

for Life will hold their
annual event on Friday,
May 15, at Leopards
Stadium. All proceeds
will benefit the American
Cancer Society. Leaders
state, “Response is always
good as friends and neigh
bors gather from across the
county to remember those
who survived the deadly
disease and others who
perished from it."
Erastus Christian
Church will hold a pork
BBQ on Saturday, May 16,
from 5-7 p.m. The cost
will be $8 a plate for take
out only. Plates include
BBQ, stew, slaw, bread and
chips. All proceeds will
go towards a new build
