For CMS Council

accepted at Commerce
Middle School for the school
council. There are openings
for members representing
parents and business inter
ests for two-year terms.
Nomination forms are
available at the CMS front
office and must be turned
in by Monday June 15, at
noon. After nominations are
received, an election will be
held in a council meeting
Monday, June 15, at 6 p.m.
in the school media center.
Additional nominations may
be made at that meeting.
Nominees should be avail
able to meet three times per
school year at the designat
ed time, be involved in the
school, willing to communi
cate with others to get input,
and be able to maintain a
school-wide perspective.

Best All Around'
East Jackson Middle School recently named sixth grade students Samantha
Minish, Daniel Reaves, Katie Grindle and Josh Crumley the “Best All Around”
students. They were selected by their teachers.

Alexandra Poole for their leadership abilities.
Get Law Degrees
Two Commerce High
School graduates received
their law degrees May 16
from the University of
Georgia School of Law.
Erin Paige Redmon, daugh
ter of Bobby and Angie
Redmon, and Bill Rhoads,
son of Mike and Ann
Rhoads, received their juris
doctorate degrees.
Redmond earned her
bachelor of arts degree in
political science at Clemson
University. Rhoads received
a BA degree from Emory
University.
Top Seventh Grade Citizens
East Jackson Middle School honored seventh
grade students Kendrick Rakestraw and Austin
Beauchamp for their outstanding citizenship to
others and their community at the school. The
students were chosen by their teachers, based on
their actions during the school year.
North Georgia
North Georgia College and
State University conferred
degrees to several Jackson
County students during its
May commencement cer
emonies.
Among them were Dillon
Jarrett, Commerce, who
earned a bachelor’s degree
in history; Mary Knight,
Nicholson, who earned a
bachelor’s degree in sociol
ogy; and Michele Wiesner,
Nicholson, who earned a
bachelor’s degree in French
and a bachelor’s degree in
psychology.

Top Eighth Grade Citizens
East Jackson Middle School honored eighth grade
students Miguel Partida and Samantha Martin for
their outstanding citizenship to others and their
community at the school. The students were cho
sen by their teachers, based on their actions dur
ing the school year.

either the president’s list
or dean’s list for the spring
term.
To make the president’s
list, a student must have a
4.0 grade point average; for
the dean’s list, a student
must have a 3.50 average.
Among those named to
the president’s list is Kristina
M. McFadden, Commerce, a
sophomore majoring in psy
chology. Mallori K. Hecht,
Maysville, a senior majoring
in biology, made the dean’s
