Hazel Bradley
AUBURN - Hazel Bradley,
90, died Friday, September 18,
2009.
A native of Barrow County,
she was the daughter of the
late Boss and Martha Kennedy
Peppers. She was a retired hair
dresser and was a member of
the Midway United Methodist
Church. Mrs. Bradley was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
E.M. "Brad” Bradley, Jr.; a sis
ter, Ardell Edwards; and brother,
Branson Peppers.
Survivors include a daugh
ter, Jackie Bradley Foley,
Winder; grandchildren, Christa
(Rob) Fellas, Manassas, Va.,
and Michael (Adrienne) Foley,
Winder; five great-grandchil
dren; sisters, Willie Mae Brady,
Tucker, and LaRue Harbin,
Canton; brothers. Jack Peppers
and Eugene Peppers, both of
Auburn; friend, Darlene Mastin,
Lawrenceville; and several niec
es and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Monday, September 21, from the
Chapel of Carter Funeral Home
with the Rev. David Moore offi
ciating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens.

‘Bill’Childers
BOGART - William C. "Bill”
Childers, 64, died Monday,
September 14, 2009.
He was the son of the late
Marion Clint and Florence
Elizabeth Powell Childers. He
was a retired
truck driver, was
of the Baptist
denomination,
and was a vet
eran having served in the United
States Army. Mr. Childers was
preceded in death by a sister.

Survivors include children,
sons and daughters-in-law, Rhett
and Jessica Childers, Commerce,
Travis and Donna Childers,
Bogart; daughter and son-in-
law, Tara and Robert Faulkner,
Statham; 11 grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; brothers,
Charles Childers, Gainesville,
Jerry Childers, Dahlonega; sis
ters, Ann Phillips and Patsy
Childers, both of Gainesville;
and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held
Thursday, September 17, at
Barrow Memorial Gardens with
the Rev. Donald E. Clark offi
ciating.

JEFFERSON - Joe Edward
"Buck” Davis, 68, died Monday,
September 21, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, he
was the son of the late Willie
Clarence and Vinnie Lee Ayers
Davis. He was a retired manager
with Southland Timber Company.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death
by a brother, Billy Ayers; and
sister, Frances Childers.
Survivors include his wife,

Methodist Church with the

ating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. The body will lie in
state at the church from 12:30
p.m. until the time of service.
Serving as pallbearers will be
Ricky Hemphill, David Parks,
Andy Bingham, Neil Bingham,
Walter Parks, and Tim Aiken.
Honorary pallbearers will be
Daniel Wilson, James Wilson,
and Dr. S.J. Shirley.

5 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral
Home.

HULL - Helen Juanita
Hook Fields, 86, died Tuesday,
September 15, 2009.
Born April 11, 1923, in
Lexington, S.C., she was the
daughter of the late Maxey M.
Hook and Virginia Shumpert
Hook Spires. Mrs. Fields was
preceded in death by a daugh
ter, Gwendolyn; her husband, the
Rev. Jackson L. Fields; sister,
Margaret Hook Harwell; and
brother, Grover C. Hook. She
was of the Baptist denomination
and was a member of Central
Baptist Church. She and her hus
band, Rev. Jackson L. Fields, a
Baptist minister, together served
several churches in the Northeast
Georgia area.
Survivors include a son. Dr.
Steven Fields, Hull; daughter and
son-in-law, Vickie Fields and Bill
Horton, Athens; grandchildren,
Kathy Fields, Letitia (Kevin)
Hardeman, Billy Horton, Marcia
(Michael) Nelms and Jenni
Horton; a great-granddaughter,
Melody Nelms.
Graveside services were
held Friday, September 18, at
Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton
with the Rev. Frank Granger of
First Baptist Church, Athens,
officiating.

Charlotte Gonzalez
WINDER - Charlotte Dephyne
Gonzalez, 57, died Saturday,
September 19, 2009.
Born in Leeds, Ala., she was
the daughter of William Wallace
of Brunswick and Bernice
Wallace of Winder. She was a
waitress. Mrs. Gonzalez was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Charlie Rister; granddaughter,
Clara Jordan; and brother Shelton
Wallace.
Survivors in addition to her
parents include a son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Jerry Dwayne and
Tammy Posey, Oneida, Tenn.;
daughters and sons-in-law, Katti
and Kevin Senior, Winder, and
Laura and A1 Terry, Bethlehem;
seven grandchildren; one great
grandchild; brother and sister-
in-law, Tony and Judy Wallace,
Loganville; and sister, Lynn
Rettenmaier, Winder.
A memorial service was
held Tuesday, September 22, at
Bethlehem First Baptist Church,
with the Rev. Mike Peavy offi
ciating.

‘Waddy’ Irwin
STATHAM - George
"Waddy" Washington Irwin, 87,
died Tuesday, September 22,
2009.
Born in Hancock County, he
was the son of the late John and
Molly Wall Irwin. He was retired
from General Motors -Doraville
Plant. He was a corporal in the
during World
War II, was
with the military
police, worked with B29 bomb
ers, and served in India and
China. Mr. Irwin was preceded in
death by his wife, Sarah J. Ware
Irwin; and a son. Van Irwin.
Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, Tony and Judy
Irwin, Braselton; five grandchil
dren; and seven great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, September 24, at
2 p.m., in the Smith Memory
Chapel with Chaplain Maitland
LaForce officiating. Burial will
be in Statham City Cemetery.

Steve Lee
NICHOLSON Steven
Randall Lee, 52, went home to
be with his Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, Sunday, September 20,
2009.
Steve fought a brave, lifelong
battle against cystic fibrosis.
Steve dreamed of having a dou
ble lung transplant with hopes of
continuing his life on earth after
his own lungs were destroyed
by this disease. He died at UNC
Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C. fol
lowing complications from the
transplant he received on June 6,
2009. The last four months of
his life were spent in the hospi
tal intensive care unit, but were
filled with cherished moments
and love. Sharon, his wife of 32
years, was at his side. Matthew,
the son he adored, was nearby.
He joined his sister Stacey, who
lost her battle to CF at age three.
In addition to his wife and
son, Steve is survived by his
parents, Robert and Betty Lee
of Watkinsville; his enormous
and loving Merrill Lynch fam
ily; many relatives and friends;
and his much loved and faith
ful canine companions Ginger,
Nina, Daisy and Cleo.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, September 26, at 2
p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church, Neese-Diamond Hill
Rd., Hull. The church is located
in Neese off Hwy. 106. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.

truck driver with Garrison
Lumber. Mr. Sheridan was pre
ceded in death by his wife, Farry
Bell Bridges Sheridan.

Syble Pangle and Faye Dial,
both of Commerce, Jean Ervin,
Homer, Ann Ayers, Baldwin, and
Elizabeth Pressley, Carrollton; a
son, Lee Sheridan, Commerce;
nine grandchildren; 15 great
grandchildren; and three great-
great-grandchildren.
