New Books On
The Library’s Shelves
In his candid autobiog
raphy “True Compass,’’
Ted Kennedy discusses the
major events of his life,
including the assassina
tions of his brothers, his
marriage to Victoria Reggie
Kennedy, the diagnosis of a
malignant brain tumor, and
his crusade for health care
reform. Kennedy describes
in detail his tenure in the
Senate as well the contro
versies that marred his rep
utation.
Sara Paretsky’s latest book,
“Hardball,’’ is her thirteenth
novel to feature private
investigator V.I. Warshawski.
The mystery begins when
Warshawski is asked to find
a man who has been miss
ing for four decades. The
plot thickens as readers are
exposed to the tumultuous
racial relations and hardball
politics of 1960s Chicago.
Following the success
of her debut novel, “The
Deep End of the Ocean,’’
Jacquelyn Mitchard has
released her sequel, “No
Time to Wave Goodbye.’’
On a lighter note, the
Deen Brothers have a new
cookbook entitled “Take it

Meals the Whole Family
Will Love.’’ The book con
tains 125 southern-style
recipes, each of which can
be prepared in less than 45
minutes.
