Banks County 4-H has
named three outstanding stu
dents as 4-H’ers of the year.
Those named are:
Cloverleaf
Cloverleaf 4-H’er of the Year
is Matthew Embrick. As a
sixth grader, Embrick was the
most active Cloverleaf 4-H’er
for 2015-2016 4-H year; com
peting in two state events, two
district events, and countless
county activities. Embrick is
a member of the 4-H Archery
Club and competed at the
Georgia 4-H State Indoor
Archery Match and Georgia
4-H State Outdoor Archery
Match in the Cloverleaf Com
pound Division; in addition,
Embrick competed in several
4-H matches in surrounding
counties.
Embrick was a member of
the Junior Consumer Judging
Team, and competed at the
District competition in Gaines
ville where he evaluated dif
ferent consumer goods and
presented a cotton commer
cial on the history of cotton.
Embrick competed in the
Public Speaking category for
District Project Achievement
in Union County and placed
first with a speech about the
history of woodwind instru
ments. Matthew was also
a third year member of the
Rabbit Club and completed
the Intermediate Level of the
club. At the Banks County 4-H
Rabbit Show, Embrick won
Best of Show with his Nether-
land Dwarf and also had the
highest score for Intermedi
ate Record book and won the
Educational Display Contest.
“In addition to his many
accomplishments on the
county district, and state lev
els, Embrick is an asset to the
Banks County 4-H program
by volunteering to help with
many activities and recruiting
new 4-H members,” Caitlin
Bennett, Banks County 4-H
agent, states.
Junior
Junior 4-H’er of the Year is
Jordan Pritchett.
“Many times life doesn’t
work out as planned and for
the 2015-2016 year 7 h grade
Banks County 4-H’er Jordan
Pritchett was faced with a
tough beginning after being
involved in an accident that
severely injured his right
hand,” Bennett said. “How
ever, that did not prevent
Pritchett from having one of
his most active years in 4-H in
his 4-H career; and every time
he participated in an event, he
did so with a positive attitude
and a smile on his face.”
Pritchett was an active mem
ber of the Junior Club, Rabbit
Club, and Archery Club. With
in Junior Club, Pritchett com
pleted hours of community
service activities and attended
two state conferences. Com
pleting his third year in Rabbit
Club, Pritchett completed the
Intermediate Level, and was
honored with first place in
showmanship, Best Decora
tive Display and Best Costume
for the 2016 Banks County 4-H
Rabbit Show. Pritchett also
competed in Project Achieve
ment at Rock Eagle 4-H Center
in March and placed 2 nd in the
Sheep and Meat Goats cate

Pritchett also campaigned to
be a Board Member of the
Northeast District Junior

Senior
Chelsea Pusbach, a 10 th
grade Banks County 4-H’er,
received Senior 4-H’er of the
year for her exemplary partici
pation in county, district, state,
and national 4-H events.
“Pusbach has a passion
for anything equine, and
4-H is the perfect outlet for
her to advance her skills in
horsemanship in addition to
expanding her leadership abil
ities,” Bennett said.
Pusbach served as presi
dent for Horse Club for 2015-
2016 and was responsible for
coordinating meeting activi
ties, planning field trips, and
working with members on
their horsemanship skills.
Her own horsemanship
skills were put to the test
when Pusbach competed at
the State 4-H Horse Show in
the Senior Stock Seat, Hunt
Seat, and Ranch Horse Divi
sions. Placing 5 th overall in
the Senior Ranch Horse Divi
sion led her to qualify and
competed at the Southern
Regional 4-H Horse Cham
pionships where she com
peted against the top riders
from Alabama, Arkansas,
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Mississippi, North
Carolina, Oklahoma, South
Carolina, Tennessee, Texas
and Virginia. Pusbach also
demonstrated her expan

giving several speeches and
demonstrations. At the State
4-H Horse Show, Pusbach
competed in Senior Demon

leather punching for saddle
in addition to submitting an
essay on Equine Cushing’s
Disease in the Senior Essay

competed, and placed 1 st ,

district level. Pusbach will
advance to State Congress
to compete for Master 4-H

Outside her equestrian pas

of the 4-H Archery Club and
competed at the Georgia 4-H
State Indoor Archery Match
and Georgia 4-H State Out
door Archery Match in the
Senior Compound Division; in
addition to competing in sever
al 4-H matches in surrounding
counties. Pusbach competed
in the Egg Preparation Contest
and placed 2 nd overall in the
state with her presentation on
“Egg to Table” and farmhouse
omelet. Pusbach has also sub

4-H Dean’s Award in Agricul

in June 2016 at State Council; if
awarded Pusbach will receive
Master 4-H status and a $500
scholarship.
“Matthew Embrick, Jor
dan Pritchett, and Chelsea
Pusbach are true leaders in
Banks County 4-H and are the
epitome of the 4-H Motto To
Make The Best Better,”’ Ben
