NATURE OF WORK:
The purpose of this classi
fication is to provide on-site
supervision to the following;
assign work /task to crews/
employees performing man
ual labor, maintenance and
construction work for the
purpose of maintaining and
repairing city roads, curbs,
shoulders, and sidewalks
within the City’s rights-of-
way. Manages the Distribu
tion and Collection Systems
Division, in which respon
sibilities include day to day
management of Facilities,
Water Distribution, Waste-
water Collection, and Storm
water systems, repair and
construction, sewer rights-
of-way maintenance crews,
infiltration/inflow correction
crews, locator unit and util
ity reading along with fleet
maintenance. Work involves
coordinating and schedul
ing projects; supervising
assigned crews directly and
through subordinate crew
leaders; determining and/
or projecting project costs,
materials estimates, and
time frames, identifying and
obtaining needed resources;
monitoring project progress
and compliance; and pre
paring related program and
operational reports. Assigns
work to crew members;
supervises site operations;
ensures work is performed in
a safe and efficient manner
and results in quality work
products; and responds to
questions and complaints
from citizens, city personnel,
and other interested parties
regarding project scope, sta
tus, and completion. Work
requires some independent
decisions and judgment
while operating under the
supervision of the City Man
ager who monitors work in
progress and inspects work
upon completion.
MINIMUM REQUIRE
MENTS: Knowledge and
level of competency com
monly associated with com
pletion of specialized train
ing in this field of work, in
addition to basic skills typi
cally associated with a high
school education. Experi
ence sufficient to thoroughly
understanding the work of
subordinate positions to be
able to answer questions
and resolve problems, usu
ally associated with one to
three years’ experience or
service. Supervisory experi
ence, preferred. E & S cer
tification preferred. Posses
sion of or ability to readily
obtain a valid Commercial
(Class B) Driver’s License
issued by the State of Geor
gia. Must possess the ability
to obtain a Class A endorse
ment within six (6) months
from the date of hire.
