- Dorothy Davis Born,
98, went home to be with
the Lord on Wednesday,
August 10, 2016. follow
ing an extended illness.
Dorothy was born on
May 17, 1918, in Lake-
mont, Ga.. the daughter of
the late Arnold and Zoie
Smith Davis. She was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, Charles Louis Born,
Sr.; son. Charles Louis
Bom, Jr.; two brothers; and
two sisters.
Mrs. Born attended
Lakemont Consolidated
High School graduating
with First Honors. After
graduating from Young
Harris College, she taught
school in Rabun County
for two years. She then
devoted herself to being a
wife, mother, grandmother,
and up to the point of being
a great-great-grandmother.
Mrs. Born was a mem
ber and attended Mt. Zion
Baptist Church in Turn-
erville. She was involved
in all church-related orga
nizations and especially
the Women's Missionary
Union. She served as the
Associational WMU Presi
dent for two years and as
President of Turnerville
Homemakers for 14 years.
Survivors include daugh
ter and son-in-law: Susan
Bom Smith and Frederick,
Jefferson; son: John Davis
Born, Knoxville, Tenn.;
sister: Jean Bragg, Mari
etta; six grandchildren:
nine great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grand-
children.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, August
13, at Whitfield Funeral
Home, North Chapel, with
the Rev. Larry Brown offi
ciating. Interment was in
Yonah Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Norfolk,
Va., the daughter of the late
Edward Boyle Darden, Sr.
and Maude Baker Darden.
She was a school teach
er, having worked in the
Lee County School Sys
tem and was a member of
the Church of the Good
Shepherd in Cashiers, N.C.
Mrs. Brown was preceded
in death by her husband,
Lewis Godfrey Brown;
and a brother, Edward B.
Darden, Jr.
Survivors include her
daughter, Elizabeth Bun
nell, Danielsville; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert
L. and Adriana Brown,
Miami. Fla.; grandsons,
Steven L. Heckenberg and
his wife Judith, and Sam
uel A. Salizar; four great
grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.

She was

tle Cheek.
Ola Mae
was an active long-time
member of Walnut Fork
Baptist Church, where she
kept the nursery for 30 plus
years. She always thought
of all the children as her
own. Mrs. Campbell was
preceded in death by her
brother, Frank Cheek, Jr.;
sister, Virginia Davis; and
granddaughter, Christina
Smith.
Survivors include her
husband of 66 years, C.H.
Campbell, Jr.; son Wil
liam Campbell; daughters

She was the daughter of
the late Arthur Loyd and
Alice Smith Greemon.
Mrs. Dalton was born
November 17, 1927.

lived in Banks and Ste
phens County most of her
life. She was retired from
WABCO with 33 years of
service and was a member
of Mountain View Baptist
Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
TomE Bradford Dalton;
son, Roger Dale Dalton;
brother, Fred Greemon;
and a sister, Betty Temple
ton.
Survivors include a son,
Winferd Lynn Dalton. Toc-
coa; two grandchildren,

Dalton; brother. Ricky

sister, Imogene Seelow.

Born in Baldwin on June
7, 1948, he was the son of
the late James Bush and
Dora Ausburn Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence was a mem
ber and former pastor of
New Birth Baptist Church.
He was a self-employed
carpenter, who actually
constructed New Birth
Baptist Church and many
other structures over the
years. He enjoyed cook
ing, gardening and wood
working in his spare time.
He also was employed as
a technician
with LP
Gas Service
for many
years and was a United
States Army veteran. Mr.
Lawrence was preceded in
death by a granddaughter,
Hannah Lawrence; sister.
Ruby Ausburn Cochran;
and brothers, James, John
ny, Howard “Grey”. Pete
and Wayne Lawrence, and
Rudolph Ausburn.
Survivors include his
wife of 47 years. Lynn
Lawrence, Hollingsworth

Donald Keith Veater died
early Saturday, August 13,
2016, at the age of 48.
Donald was born in Nor
man. Okla., on June 18.
1968. He graduated from
the University of Georgia
in 1994 with a Bachelor of
Science in Education. He
also received a Master of
Education from UGA in
1998. Donald was hon
ored to be a torchbearer
for the 1996 Summer Para
lympics. A former resident
of Stone Mountain, he was
residing in Comer at the
time of his death. Donald
was preceded in death by
his mother, Bettye laMar
Speaks Veater; and father,
Joel Gaston Veater.
Survivors include a sis
ter, Lee Beth Burge (Chet);
three nieces: Emma, Eliz
abeth, and Ella Burge;
and one nephew, Manuel
Burge.
For the last 12 years of
his life. Donald received
loving care from Kristy
Mahaffey. Amanda Parten,
and Brenda Parten, and
enjoyed being part of their
large and entertaining fam
ily.
