WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2016 THE COMMERCE NEWS • THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PAGE 7A lackson County Sheriffs Office arrests Man with knife jailed after chasing woman A man was arrested last week in Jefferson after wit nesses say he chased a woman with a knife. Chad Douglas Dorsey 35, 105 Bennett Drive, Gaines- vile, faces charges of aggra vated assault and second-de gree cmelty to children. Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were called to a LaVista Road, Jef ferson, residence on reports of a domestic dispute. The complainant saw a man with a knife chasing a woman in the yard. Officers spoke with the woman, who was sitting in a vehicle, crying and wearing only a T-shirt. When asked what hap pened, she said, “nothing,” and continuously refused to tell officers any details. She eventually said she and Dors ey had “gotten into it.” Dorsey said the two had gotten into an argument after he took the children to see their grandfather. He told officers the woman grabbed a steak knife and unsuccessfully tried to flatten his tires to prevent him from leaving. He said she grabbed his wrist during the argument but it was “no big deal.” Officers said neither were open about the details of the incident. When the children were asked about what happened, it report edly appeared that “some one had even coached the children to prevent the truth from being obtained.” Officers found a bent steak knife in the kitchen, along with a large butcher knife that was on the floor. They spoke with a wit ness, who said she heard a commotion and saw Dors ey chase the woman in the yard until he caught her. He reportedly held her in a “choke-type hold” and held a large knife to her neck. The victim reportedly screamed, “Call 9-1-1.” She was able to get away from him and locked herself in a vehicle.
