Grab ‘N’ Go breakfast
The Jenkins County Elementary Cafeteria will offer Grab ‘n’
Go breakfast for students beginning Monday, March 9. Grab ‘n’
Go is a healthy, reimbursable breakfast served in a small bag
from carts that will be stationed at the front entrance door and in
the cafeteria. Each bag is individually wrapped in advance by
the cafeteria staff and contains cold items such as fruit juice, ce
real bar, cheese, and other healthy “fast” foods. Students can
pick up the healthy “fast” food breakfast and consume it in the
cafeteria, quietly at their desks, or during their morning break.
A traditional breakfast will still be offered in the cafeteria. The
Grab ‘n’ Go is for students who do not have time to sit and eat a
traditional breakfast. Some students are rushed and have no time
to eat at home, while others eat only unhealthy foods earlier in
the morning.
The Grab ‘n’ Go provides essential nutrition to many students
who otherwise would not get a healthy nutritional breakfast. Stu
dents who eat a good healthy breakfast will perform better in
school with less behavior problems and sickness.
If your child(ren) does not have time to sit and eat a traditional
breakfast at home or at school. School Nutrition Director Debra
Herrmann ask that you encourage your child (ren) to participate
in the Grab ‘n’ Go breakfast program.

The Joys of Virtuosity
It is almost always more enjoyable to do something that we do well rather than something
at which we fail miserably. Whether playing a sport or a musical instrument, the bet
ter we get at it, the more pleasure we usually derive from the activity. But this
doesn’t mean that we have to be virtuosos. Not everyone can play the cello
like Yoyo Ma or play tennis like Venus Williams. The good news is that it
doesn’t really matter how well we play. What gives most of us satisfaction is
that we are getting better. When we start to learn something new, the learning curve
is steep, and so we see rapid improvement, which generates a lot of satisfaction.
After a while however, we inevitably hit a plateau, where it requires considerably
^ >re effort to improve. These plateaus are the tough spots where we have to per-
i,^ere and redouble our efforts. We will be rewarded, but it takes time and effort.
Therefore, we should remember the old adage: that if it’s worth doing; it’s worth doing
right. And, since many activities take years to perfect, it may be best to also tell our
selves that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing poorly when we’re just starting out. We
should just do it with the aim of getting better at it!
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to want. — R.S.V. Proverbs 14:23
