MGGDC visits Canoochee Catfish
Byron Scogins of the Millen
Gentlemen’s Gourmet Dining
Club (MGGDC) asked the ques
tion, “Why drive a long dis
tance, when delectable cuisine
is readily available nearby?”
According to Scogins, “Terry
and Joanna Bell offer seafood
and sandwiches, and have a
reputation for preparing the
‘best catfish in town.’ They have
daily specials and are open
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. You are
encouraged to call ahead for
groups of 10 or more.”
He continued, “The quality,
quantity, preparation and pre
sentation of the food were as
good as we have found. The ser
vice provided by Jennifer was
impeccable. Her bubbly person
ality was an additional plus.
Upon arrival, we observed a
most presentable table with
place cards identifying each
member, with the acronym
“ROMEO” (retired old men eat
ing out.) A good time was
shared by all, members and res
taurant staff.”
Scogins said that MGGDC
gives Canoochee Catfish and
their total staff a big salute and
their highest rating of five
bowls, and he noted that the fact
that it is conveniently located
nearby is a bonus.
The group’s next visit will be
to the Fish and Pig in Macon.
This restaurant won a “Best in
Macon” contest and was chosen
to host Oprah during her recent
visit. The group will also visit
the Georgia Music Hall of Fame
and/or the Georgia Sports Hall
of Fame. They welcome new
members.
