Eagles win two on the diamond
The Jenkins County High
School varsity baseball team
won two games last week. The
Eagles defeated Savannah
Country Day 16-5 and Claxton
8-7.
Leading hitters in the SCD
games were: Aaron Comstock
3-4. 1 double. 4 RBI’s; Will
Bragg 2-3, 2 walks. 2 RBI’s;
Houston Bowers 2-5 with a
HR; Josh Lee 1-4 with a HR;
and Dag Gay & Spencer Clark
1-2 with three walks apiece and
three runs scored.
“It was a great win on the
road at SCD. It’s a tough place
to play,” commented Coach
Wendell Clark.
“Trevor Weathersby pitched
a great game pitching five
strong innings. He had five
strikeouts and only one walk.
In the sixth inning Will Bragg
came in to sit them down one,
two, three and end the game
with a mercy rule,” he said.
Leading hitters for the Eagles
against Claxton were: Spencer
Clark 2-2, 1 double and 4
RBI’s; Will Bragg 2-3 with 3
RBI’s; Dag Gay 2-3, three runs
scored; Will Brinson 2-3,1 Run
scored; Dontavous Young 1-2,
1 RBI and two Stolen bases;
Trevor Weathersby 2-4, two
stolen bases and two runs
scored; and Jose Lee 1-4 with
a double.
“Aaron Comstock had a 2-
hitter going into the sixth in
ning with five strikeouts and no
walks. He started getting into
his pitch count and had a few
bad plays go against him. Over
all he pitched a great game.
Will Bragg came on in relief to
get the win. Claxton hit the ball
very well at the end. Give them
credit, they fought back hard.
It was a great game to watch.
On behalf of the team and my
self, we would like to thank all
the fans for their great support
in this young season. The re
gion record 3-1,” Coach Clark
