Rizzo, McMillan win Super Eagle Day 5K
Chris Rizzo and Kimberly
McMillan were the overall win
ners in the Super Eagle Day 5K
on March 14.Rizzo made the trip
from Augusta and covered the 3.1
mile course in 18:14. Millen na
tive Kimberly McMillan won the
women’s division of the 5K in a
time of 27:51. Kimberly is a
teacher at Jenkins County El
ementary School.
In the men’s race. Burt Carter
pressed Rizzo for the first
mile.Both men passed the 1-mile
mark in just over six minutes. At
about the 2-mile mark, Jenkins
County Middle School student
Mark Brannen passed Carter and
finished second overall in a time
of 20:56. Carter held off a hard
charging Jimmy Brannen for third
place overall. Carter’s time was
21:08 while Brannen finished
fourth overall in 21:09.
First place age group awards in
the 5K went to: Mark Brannen,
Burt Carter, Jimmy Brannen,
Colton Wilkerson, Greg Rowell,
Rick Umpleby, Mike McGrath,
Zac Becton, A1 Massey, Catherine
Massey, Melissa Williams, Sum
mer Holloway and Angela Lamb.
Second place age group awards
went to: Cody Lindsey, Brad
Lively, Tony Fu, Ron Bennett,
Tyler McMillan, Zan Becton and
Ronnie Lamb.
Third place age group awards
went to: Scott Klusterman, Tim
Goodman and Paul Deiteman.
In the 1 Mile Fun Run, Will
Brinson was the overall winner
for the second year in a row.
Will’s time was 6:19. In the fe
male division, Alyssa Brannen
won the 1 mile in a time of 8:24.

course and they worked at the
water table. The club members

JCHS competes in
Region 6
The 2009 Region 6 Georgia
Career Student Association
(GCSA) Competition (formerly
VOCA) was held at Washington
County High School in
Sandersville, Friday, Feb. 13.
With 42 project categories -
ranging from mechanical drafting
to agricultural science and graphic
design - the event showcased a
diverse group of skill sets. First,
second and third place winners
will move on to the state level
competition at Jekyll Island April
2-4.
