By Deborah Bennett
Millen News Editor
Vendors could once again be
allowed to sell their wares in the
business district of the City of
Millen, if changes to the city’s
vendor ordinance remain as ap
proved at the April meeting of
Millen City Council.
After hearing remarks from
local resident Woodrow Wilson,
Millen City Council voted dur
ing the April meeting to allow
licensed vendors to set up in the
business district of the city, pro
vided they have permission
from the property owners. How
ever, that decision was chal

plus $5 per day boarding fee
prior to release.
City Manager Lamar
Faircloth reported that the city’s
annual audit report and correc
tive action plan had been ac
cepted by the state for fiscal
year 2008. He also reported that
there would be no increase in
fees paid for the prison work
detail utilized by the city.

council included the following:

sign a contractual agreement
with the Jenkins County Com
missioners to share the cost of
developing a joint Comprehen
sive Plan for the county with the
city’s cost being $3,600 and the
county’s cost $5,265;
• Approved amendment to a
city ordinance, providing for a
fine add-on fee to be used for
police officer training and infor
mation technology;

$250 for surveying Westside
Cemetery;
• Authorized the mayor and
city manager to sign an agree
