Health Department
announces schedule
Over the past year the Jenkins
County Health Department has
sustained deep cuts in funding
from the state resulting in staff
layoffs and inability to fill va
cated positions. This has re
sulted in increased workload for
remaining staff.
In recent months it has be
come increasingly necessary for
staff to complete necessary ad
ministrative duties. Therefore,
the Jenkins County Board of
Health has approved the follow
ing dates for the department to
be closed to the public: Wednes
day, Oct. 28; Wednesday, Nov.
18; Thursday, Dec. 10; and ev
ery Friday until further notice.
In the future, the health depart
ment will close for staff meet
ing and monthly closeout for
reports on the last working day
of each month.
The health department and
Board of Health appreciate the
public’s patience as staff tries to
meet the growing needs of the
county.
