A beautiful angel is all that is here.
Saying O’ Lord please leave me here.
Not ready to leave, but has to go.
Wants to go back but God says, “No.”
A son and a daughter, grandchildren and friends,
A meaningful life that suddenly ends.
An angel is what she was meant to be,
Now think of all that she can see.
Watching over her family night and day,
Saying, “I love you” in her own special way.
In the night we sleep and in the day we cry.
While she watches us all from her star in the sky.
We miss you Wa Wa,
Quinton and Quincie Watson

Ag Line: Tips for a Safe Holiday
By Wade Parker
County Extension Coordinator
This time of year brings hap
piness, joy, and excitement. The
smell of scented candles and
Christmas trees all contribute to
a happy and joyous Christmas.
While beautiful, they can also
be very dangerous. It will be
without fail that someone’s
house will burn or someone will
be seriously injured or killed
from a Christmas tree fire, burn
ing candle, or other types of
fires related to Christmas. The
following are several ways you
can make sure your home is safe
this holiday season.
Trees
Even if your Christmas tree
is artificial, it is not immune to
burning. It may burn a lot
slower, but eventually the tree
will be consumed by fire.
Check live trees for freshness.
You can do this by checking the
flexibility of the needles and
tapping the trunk on the ground.
If it drops a lot of needles, it is
already beginning to dry out.
Keep your live tree watered and
Once again. Congressman
John Barrow (GA-12) is asking
folks from Georgia’s 12th Dis
trict to participate in his annual
“Holiday Cards for Our Troops”
program. This is the third year
Rep. Barrow has collected holi
day cards for soldiers who are re
covering from battle away from
their families during the holiday
season. The cards will be deliv
ered to soldiers at the Walter Reed
Army Medical Center in Wash
ington .
“This is the time of year we ask
folks to show their thanks to our
men and women in uniform, and
every year the response has been
amazing,” said Barrow. “I hope
folks will be as generous this
year. The men and women who
are recovering from battle inju
ries in our nation’s capital are far
from their homes, and their
homes are just like ours. Being
when the needles begin to fall,
it is time to take the tree out of
the house. A live tree that has
dried out will ignite in a matter
of seconds. Therefore, make
sure your tree is away from all
heat sources and out of walk
ways in your home.
Decorations and Lights
Homeowners need to be very
careful and only decorate the
tree and house with flame-resis
tant decorations. While the use
of tinsel is very attractive, avoid
using tinsel around small chil
dren and pets. Both can be at
tracted to shiny lights and may
ingest it. A thorough inspection
of lights for broken cords and
other problems needs to be
made before putting them on
trees and other areas of the
house or yard.
Candles
As I mentioned in my intro, it
is very important that you watch
candles very close. Never leave
lighted candles unattended and
keep them out of reach of chil
dren. Never use lit candles on
your tree. Believe it or not, I
away from friends and family is
especially hard during the holi
day season. Just a word of en
couragement and support can
mean a lot.”
Residents of the 12th District
sent in over 2,000 cards for the
troops in both 2007 and 2008.
Rep. Barrow asks folks to
make or purchase a holiday card,
write a message of thanks to a
service member and then send or
bring the card, unaddressed and
with an unsealed envelope, to any
one of his district offices by Dec.
18. The envelopes will be ad
dressed and delivered to service
members on behalf of the citizens
of the 12th District of Georgia.
The addresses for the Savan
nah and Augusta offices are as
follows: 450 Mall Blvd., Suite A,
Savannah, GA 31406; and 925
Laney Walker Blvd., Suite 300,
Augusta, GA 30901.
have heard stories of people us
ing lit candles on their Christ
mas tree!
Fireplace
Fireplaces are commonly
used this time of year. Many
times people will use fireplaces
just to add atmosphere to their
living area. If you plan to use
the fireplace, having a profes
sional come and clean the chim
ney may not be a bad idea. Al
ways use a screen in front of a
burning fire, and do not burn
wrapping paper or tree
branches. Christmas tree debris
can be very flammable and pro
duce way more fire than you
ever dreamed of.

I Bring You Good News
Everyone enjoys receiving good news. We can just imagine how the shepherds must
have responded when an angel of the Lord appeared before them to announce that
their Savior was born. The Gospel of Luke tells us that they were terribly afraid,
but the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! I am here with good news for
you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David’s town
your Savior was born—Christ the Lord!” The shepherds then went to
Bethlehem to see Jesus with Mary and Joseph, and they told them what the
angel had said about the child. Then they went back singing praises to God for
all they had heard and seen. After two thousand years, the good news of
Jesus Christ is still available for everyone who embraces God’s love and
mercy. Our Heavenly father has given us His Son so that everyone who believes
in Him may have eternal life. Good news is something that we can never get
enough of. The reality that Jesus was born for all mankind is an indication of how much
we are loved by God. She will have a Son, and you will name Him Jesus-because
He will save His people from their sins.
