Emergency crews responded
to a single vehicular accident on
Highway 25 last Friday evening. A
Hephzibah man, JA Quez Deonte
Jackson was traveling north on
highway 25 in his black 2013 Toyota
Corolla when he lost control. Sheriff
Robert Oglesby of the Jenkins
County Sheriff’s Office explains,
“the driver was negotiating a curve
and lost control.”
Jackson then traveled across the
roadway, striking the guardrail.
The vehicle overturned and came
to rest on it’s roof. The driver
explained to investigators that he
had fallen asleep which caused him
to lose control. Mr. Jackson was
transported via Jenkins County

Students return this week
Students will finally return
to school Thursday, Sept. 9,
to a modified schedule. In
what started off as a “back to
normal” school year, COVID
once again reared its ugly head
and forced school officials to
close the Jenkins County
Schools for two weeks.
“Once we return, we will be
restructuring our schedule for
the next several weeks with
our objective being that we
can return to regular instruction in October,” Superintendent Cooper says.
Beginning tomorrow. Sept. 9, students with the last names beginning with L-Z will return to class. Students with last names
beginning with A-K will attend class on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday and Friday will be L-Z students. Wednesdays will
be teacher planning days and no students will report to class.
“Our students will continue this schedule through the month of September. October 4-8 is fall break and we have plans
to return to normal instruction on Monday, October 11.”
