Jean Brown Lambert
Bonaire - Jean Brown Lambert
passed away peacefully on the
morning of Monday, December
6, 2021, at Hazel Colson
Hospice House in Perry, GA. A
graveside service was held on
Thursday, December 9, 2021, at
3:00 p.m. inElamBaptist Church
Cemetery, 5199 Elam Road,
Millen, GA 30442, where Mrs.
Lambert was laid to rest. For
friends unable to attend at this
time, the service was streamed
live via the McCullough
Funeral Home Facebook

Mrs. Lambert, 88, longtime
resident of Warner Robins and
Bonaire, Georgia, waged a
courageous battle to overcome
a serious medical condition.
Surrounded by the reassurance
of her faith and the love of
family and friends, she refused
to let her illness rob her of
the natural joy of life. Her
loving, generous spirit will be
greatly missed by family and
friends but she will always
remain in our hearts and minds.
She was preceded in death by
her beloved husband, William
Edward Lambert; parents, Hugh
and Estella Brown, Millen,
Georgia; two sisters, Marie
B. Rushton, Millen, Georgia;
Eudell B. Hutcheson, Dublin,
Georgia; and son in law, Charles
Huff, Marietta, Georgia.
Survivors include her three
daughters, Carol (Randy)
Wojciechowski, Walterboro,
SC; Angie Huff, Marietta, GA;
Kim (Van) Watson, Bonaire,
GA; six grandchildren.

Brandon Huff, Asher (Alanna
H.) Wojciechowski, Haleigh
(Whit) Wojciechowski
McCarthy, Luke (Elizabeth P.)
Watson, Zack Watson; great
granddaughters, Kimberly
Huff, Aulbree Phyllis Watson,
and Riley Jean McCarthy;
one nephew and four nieces.
Jean was bom in Jenkins County,
GA and was a 1950 graduate
of Millen High School. She
attended Berry College for two
years then in 1952 transferred
to Georgia Teachers’ College
in Statesboro, GA to join her
new husband and complete her
degree in Elementary Education
in 1954. Jean began her teaching
career at Lindsey Elementary
School in January, 1957 as a
first grade teacher. Her tenure
as a Teacher in several Houston
County schools lasted twenty
one years with her last eight
years of service as a Principal
at Thomas Elementary School.
Jean enjoyed a long and
distinguished career as an
Educator and was the recipient
of many honors. She was also
honored in 1980 when she was
selected as Houston County
Teacher of the Year and placed
1st mnner up as the State of
Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Her most current honor was her
induction into Houston County
2009 Teacher Hall of Fame.
Jean was also a leader among
educators. She served as the first
female president of the Houston
County Association of Educators
and was selected to represent the
county as a delegate to numerous
state and national events.
Jean was a dedicated member
of First Baptist Church for
thirty one years, serving
in many roles including,
Sunday School Teacher to
Parliamentarian and Tmstee.
In 1988 she became a member
of Central Baptist Church.

Gunnery Sgt. (Ret) Don L.
Durden, Sr., 88, died Wednes
day, December 8, 2021.
He was born in Candler
County, the son of the late
Estelle Waye and Eddie Durden.
He was a U. S. Marine Corps.
Veteran of the Korean War
and the Vietnam War, a retired
journeyman electrician at IBEW
Local 508, and he was a Charter
member of West Millen Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death in ad
dition to his parents, by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances Duthu
Durden; sisters, Betty Edenfield, Eddie Hurst and Lillian Flesher;
brothers, Leo Durden and Eddie Durden Jr.; great grandson, Noah
Durden.
Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Millen
Cemetery with Rev. Andy Allen officiating.
Survivors include his son, Don (Tracy) Durden, Jr. of Guyton; 2
daughters, Darla Durden (Richard) Mayberry of Jackson, SC and
Shirlene (Richard) Statham of Savannah; he was also blessed with
5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and bother-in-law, Jimmie
O. Edenfield of Millen.
