The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is warning the public
of a phone scam that asks drivers to provide their driving license details and
pay a fee to reinstate their license. The caller claims to be from the Depart
ment of Driver Services (DDS) but in reality is a common voice phishing
scam designed to steal personal information and money from recipients.
“DDS employees do not contact customers to ask for personal or confi
dential information, such as driver's license or Social Security numbers via
telephone, email or text, and anyone who receives such a communication
should consider it is a scam to steal your identity. When the DDS calls
or emails customers it is based on action initiated
by the customer such as a request to speak to a
licensing agent or an email confirmation from
utilizing online services. Customers can quickly
verify the status of their license on the DDS web
site at this secure link https://dds.drives.ga.gov.
Voice and computer phishing scammers use
many and varied tactics to trick victims into
handing over their personal or financial in
formation. Georgians should be very cau
tious of any unsolicited telephone calls, texts
or emails that claim to be government departments, banks or compa
nies that instruct them to follow a link or open an attachment to update
or verify personal information. Visit www.dds.georgia.gov for com
pete licensing and testing information including many online services.

Since its inception, the students with the Jenkins County
Ag program have teamed up with the St.
Nicholas Toy Box to help sort the toys
and fill the orders. “It’s like we are Santa’s
helplers,” explains FFA advisor and
JCMS Ag teacher Carmen Bennett. This
year the students had to sort over 6,000
toys for children ages newborn -15 years
old. The majority of the toys are donated
through customers of Spring Creek
Auction. “We couldn’t do this without the
dedication of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett and
their great students,” Debbie Frawley,
vice chair person of the Toybox explains,
“this year over 160 children will have a
special Christmas thanks to our sponsors.”
