The Journal office has just
finished a nice lot of show-bills
(poster size) for Mr. 11. P. Ter
rcli. Mr. Terrell considers the
work more neater than the last
lot lie had done in Macon The
bill is 12x18.
Farmes should now be at
work preparing their fencing,
etc. The time will soon arrive
for turning under for the next
crop. Bad fences are injuri
ous and troublesome to your
self and your neighbors.
Postmasters will please re
number when subscribers ask
for their mail that the Journal

of the opinion the worif “mail”
means only letters, or some
thing else besides newspapers.
Ayer’s Pills are always ready
for use. They are sugar-coat
ed, easy to take, and will bring
relief and cure. They are ei
fectual in all diseases caused
by disorders of the stomach and
digestive organs.
Do you suffer from indiges
tion, or loss of appetite: Are
you troubled with liver, or kid
ney complaint? Take Ayer’s
Sarsaparilla. This preparation
find vitalizes the blood,
thus restoring health and
strength to the digestive and
assimilative organs. Try it.

took the young lady for a
“beautiful blonde.”
The sheriff's sales o; lues

has its share of dead-beats, and
they have placed the sheriff ot
Banks county on a casii basis
with the Journal herealter.

The parly at Mr.Owen Chain
ber's last Thursday night was
a pleasant one. A large attend
ance was present. The usual
pastime for the occasion was
freely indulged. Not ’til a late
hour did the merry gathering
break up and all dispense for
their homes, extending thanks
to theirvoung host and hostess.
Thursday arid Friday of last
week were examination days
for teachers of the common
schools in this and,other coun
ties for the ensuing year. Six
teen or eighteen were examin
ed before Commissioner Gun
nells. Tha Journal is not pre
pared to give a list of the grad
es received. It is said the ques
tions were extremely hard—al
most to a majority superfluous.
These “local conundrums” are
prepared by the state board.

Rev. Mr. liorie’s sermon Sun
day evening, from Genesis,
page Xlll—chapter Xll—God
calleth Abram, and blesseth
him with a promise of Christ—
etc., was interesting and in
structive to responsibilities of
the Christian’s duties. The
congregation, though not large,
was, seemingly,pleased in hav
ing come out to hear such an
able sermon.
From scriptural inference,
the life of Abraham was cer
tainly a marked one in pa-
tience, hope, faith and courage.
As an exemplified Christian, he
could have been nothing less.
While temptations and pleas
ures may have been greater
er, they could have been noth
ing less than to-day.
