We believe that there will now be a uuited effort to establish a good school in Homer All we need is a united and determined effort and the thing is done. Homer pos sesses unusal advantages iu point of location, healthfulness, morals, cheapnesi of living, and in fact, there is nothing in the world to bin der us from having a good school By all means have it. ‘•The North Georgian.” We are in receipt of a copy of the North Georgian published at Homer, Hecember 1, 1883, by M*. J. W, Sumpter. The paper is a six-column folio, with patent out side, and is neatly printed. Bur ing the life of the North Georgian there was no business done in Ho mer. At least there is ho advertise ments t® show it. But one mer chant appears, that of J. T. Garris on, If you want people to come to see you, you must tell them where you live If you want to do business, j'ou must advertise. BaJ-WINE OF CARDU), a Tonic lor Women. A gentleman said to us the oth er day, finding we were ot Homer, but not knowing we were publish ing tha Journal (and wa never did tell him who we were, nor did he ask): ‘T see your little town has a paper, and I had almost forgotten the place; but I would like to see Hamer build up.” Just think ot this. Doubtless he had seen a copy of tha Journal with some of his neighbors. Yet some w raid have you believe a paper does no good in building up a town aad keeping its name before the public. All public spirited men would like to stick their foot under the coat-tails of such apron-strings. Their place is at home. The public lias no use for them. If their presence can be endured at home, it is a great bless ing to the progressive public- Cenmunjuaied. Hiwassee, Ga., May 18 ’B9.—The weather is extremely torpid and dry.
