Several of the local bar made speeches, displaying some strong legal points. Mr. J. E. Each and wife of S Iver Shoals, expects to visit Col. H. H Da vidson ot Clay county, N. C., next week. Col. Davidson is Mr. Ritck’e tatber-iu-law. He is quite sick and was not expected to live when last heard from. Mr. J. E. Stephens brought to this olliee last Friday, the finest cotton bloom of the season. Mr. Stephens says he has had blooms since the 25ih inst. This speaks well for a young farmer. The Womans' Aid Society will give a candy-pulling at the resi dence of Mrs. J. E, Stephens’ Fri day night in the interest of the Ho mer Baptist Church, Admittance 10 cents, children £ cents.
