A Human Opinion.
It is because of the ignorance of
some people concerning God and
his declarations, that their views
-•tre oftentimes widely at varience
with Bible statement and teach
ing. Here is human opinion : “Do
not think for a moment that the
God of love and mercy would tor
ment the incorrigible wicked eter
nally,” This man, who is a preach
er, is assuming to think for God.
He tells us what God will not do,
as though he fully understands the
mind of God. The fact is, God
has never said that lie would “tor
ment” any body, either for a short
time or for eternity. God does
say that those who die in their
sins” shall go away into eternal
punishment.” If thos# persons
were to be put out of existence,
after leaving this world, as that
man says that they will bo, their
punishment would not be “eternal.
It would be only a temporary pun
ishment, and it would also be a very
desirable one to them. Thousands
of ungodly ones Would be exceed
ingly glad if, at death, they might
forever cease to exist. They rebel
at the thought of eternally existing
in a condition of suffering, even in
a comparatively small degree.
Millions of people, now suffering
from physical disease, would be in
agony of mind if they know or
thought that they must b eternally
in such suffering. They would be
in torment, even now, if they be
lieved that they must always con
tinue to suffer as much as they pres
ently do. God’s love and mercy do
not prevent multitudes of people
from having great anguish of mind,
on account of their sins or sick
nesses, or misfortunes. God lets
the unrepentant ones, at death, go
into a world where they will not
torment the saved ones any longer.
He does not drive them into that
world. They go into their own
proper place. No one but them
selves is at fault, or to be blamed.
And God is beseeching sinners to
be reconciled to Him in this life,
so that they may not be forever in
a state of death, will all of its con
sequences.

Night On Bald Mountain.
On a lonely night Alec. Benton of

by Asthma, bent on- curing him Dr.
King’s New Discovery, that had cured
himself of asthma This wonderful
medicine soon relieved and quickly cur
ed his neighbor. Later it cured his son’s
wife of a severe lung trouble. Millions
believe its the greatest Throat and Lung

Hemorrhages and bore Lungs are surely
cured by it, Best for Hay Fever, Grip

In home there should be no jar, no
striving tor place, no insisting on
prerogatives, or division of interest.
The husband and wife are each the
complement of the other. And it
is as much his duty to be cheerful
as it is hers to sweep and garnish
the pleasant interior. A family
where the daily walk ®f the father j
makes life a festival, is lilled with j
heavenly benediction. ‘
The New Woman.
Just now who “the new woman’
of the day is, upon wh( se much her
alded advent many good and sober
minded people have taken fright,
remains a mystery. That times are
changing, and women abvancing
into broader fields of education and
usefulness no one in his senses can
doubt. The real new woman which
the twentieth century will give to
grace the decade of its successors,
will be one, who to the gentle, fem
inine attributes cf her colonial an
cestors, will add the strength of self
reliance and the force of systematic
intellectual training. A wider ex
perience in life, and an extended
knowledge of human nature, have
never yet retarded the wheels of
progress or deracinated society,
and there seems no very good rea
son to believe that different results
will prevail, because women pos
sess these advantages. Immutable
nature has mapped out to woman
her sphere. The golden chains of
love and maternal devotion bind
her willingly to it. She could not
leave it if she wonld. and she would
and she would not if she could.
So after the extravagances and
exagerations that are now following
naturally enough in the wake of the
movement which is advancing wo
man into a higher position in the
social system, shall have settled
down, as extre es attendant on
reforms have done before, the real
new woman will appear, as true to
herself and her vocations as any of
her p edecessors. If the spirit of
her time extends her duties, in
some instances into public life,
there she will conduct herself with
digniiy and ability. She will pre
side at the fireside, a fair and state
ly figure, none the less lovable be
cause adorned with more of the
graces of Minerva, as well as those
of Venus; none the less esmpan
ionable because of her better un
derstanding of things that interest
men.
Love always gives. Service has
a thousand forms. Sometimes it
is poverty that stands at our door
and relief is wanted. More often
it is not money nor bread, but
something more precious, friend
ship, sympathy. Sorrow or lone
liness is before us. A mother’s
heart is breaking. Money would
be useless—it would be a mockery.
But we can hold to the neighbor’s
lips a cup of the wine of love, filled
out of our own heart, which will
hearten the sufferer, Or it is the
anguish of a life struggle, a human
Gethsemane, beside which we are
called to watch. We can give no
actual aid—the soul must fight its
battles alone; but we can be as
the angel that ministered to our
Lord’s Gethsemane imparting
strength aud helping the weary
struggler to wi# the victory.
Who says a woman has nothing to
do? In one she cooks breakfast,
dinner and snpper each 365 times,
washes dishes 1,092 times, gets the
children ready for school twice a
day for iSOdays, and puts the baby
to sleep 1,5G0 times, not to mention
a few other odd jobs.

That Lame Back Means
Kidney Disease
And to Relieve the Lame and Aching Back,
You Must First Relieve the Kidneys
There is no question about th’at
at all —for the lame and aching
back is caused by a diseased con
dition of the kidneys and bladder.
It Is only common sense, any way
—that you must cure a condition
by removing the cause of the con
dition. And lame and aching back
are not by any means the only
symptoms of derangement of the
kidneys and bladder. There are a
multitude of well-known and un
mistakable indications of a more or
less dangerous condition. Some of
these are, for instance: Extreme
and unnatural lassitude and weari
ness, nervous irritability, heart ir
regularity, “nerves on edge,” sleep
lessness and inability to secure
rest, scalding sensation and sedi
ment in the urine, inflammation of
the bladder and passages, etc.
DeWitt’s Kidney and Bladder
Pills are an exceptionally meritori
ous remedy for any and all affec
tions or diseased conditions of
these organs. These Pills operate
directly and promptly—and their
beneficial results are at once felt.
They regulate, purify, and effec
tually heal and restore the kid
neys, bladder and liver, to perfect
and healthy condition —even in
some of the most advanced cases.
When we look about us and con
sider the happiness that exists, the
f milies that have come to grief—
some from misfortune, some from
error, we are almost persuaded that
those parents who die young,be
fore the evil day come when they
no longer find pleasure in their
children, are the only ones who die
happy. Could the mother who
fondly clasps her infant in har arms
the idol of her heart, and object of
her tenderest devotion, while she
prays without ceasing for his life
to be spared that he may continue
a consolation to her and prop for
old age ; could she forsee the future
of that child, which is so wisely
hid from her, could she see. him or
her overburdened or disgrace, pov
erty stricken and friendless, idle or
insane, a worthless vagabond, or a
debauched millionaire, way down
in the dregs of society or a way up
in the scum, would not a change
come o’er the spirit of her dream,”
would she not more fully realize
tnat life is only valuable as it is
well spent, and while she is praying
for life to last, pray also with great
er fervency for his protection from
the soul destroying thing of the
world.
One Day.
It is beautiful to give one day to
the ideal —to have one day apart,
One day for generous deeds,
good will, gladness.
One day to forget the shadows,
the rain, the storms of life; to re
member the sunshine, the happi
ness of youth and health.
One day to forget the briars and
thorns on the winding path, to re
member the fruits and flowers.
One day in which to forget your
self and think lovingly of others.
One day for the family, the fire
side, for the wife and children, for
the love and laughter, the joy and
rapture of home.
One day in which books and
stocks and deeds and notes, and in
terest and'mortgage, and all kinds
of business and trade forgotten,
and ail stores and shops and facto
ries, and offices and banks, and
ledgers and accounts, and lawsuits
are cast aside, put away and locked
up, and the weary heart and brain
are given a voyage to fairyland.
Let us hope that such a day is a
prophesy of what all days will be.
It's the summer boarder that
helps the world go ‘round.
