A Child In tho Figiit.
Rich Hill, Mo., July 7th, 1888.
The Swift Specific Co., Atlanta,
Ga., Gentlemen: Our little girl
when but three weeks old broke
out w'ith exzema. We tried the
prescription from several good doc
tors, but without any special benefit.
We tried S. S. S. and by the time
one bottle was gone her head began
to heal, and by the time she had
taken six bottles she was complete
ly cured. Now she has a full and
heavy head of hair—a robust
healthy child. I feel it but luy du
ty to make this statement.

Apropos of the discussion of the
question as to whether marriage is
a failure, Prussian statistics on in
sanity afford some very interesting
figures. Out of 100,000 of the pop
ulation of each class of the mental
ly diseased among the married were
but ninety-five males and ninety
five females. Among the single,
322 males and 291 females. Among
the widowed 321 males and 256 fe
males. Among the divorced 1,081
males and 1,031 females. These
figures almost prove that married
people are the only s.-.ne people.
The large proportion of insane
among tae divorced indicates at
least that divorce doos not promote
sanity. The even ratio of insanity
in the two sexes shown by the
figures is also surprising. Perhaps ’
by the time the marriage question
has been viewed from all stand
points it will bo found to be one of
the institutions this world cannot <
very well get along without. .

B Durham, N. C., Nov. I.—The pa
e pers devote most of their space to
.. the Rev. Sam Jones’ meetings. It
■ is stated that on one rainy and
e muddy night 3,000 persons went out
n to hear him. The great evangelist
j was as racy as usual in his remarks,
, and one of the papers quotes him
] as follows:
t I don’t know how to argue with
. a fellow that’s silly. Sin not only
makes a rascal of a fellow, but it
makes him a fool.
I don’t carry my feelings around
( with mo. I’m afraid some fool
might hurt ’em. And when Igo
home I throw ’em over the back
r fence for fear my wife might hurt
1 ’em.
Adam was a Methodist. How do
3 I know it? Because the old rascal
’ fell from grace.
' I never played base ball. I
> wouldn’t have a dog that would
- play base ball.
A fellow gets off to himself to
; keep out of bad company, and ho
finds he’s penned up with the biggest
rascal in town.
You little tow-wheeled Chris
tians! The devil can give you ten
miles, the start and catch you be
fore breakfast.
It ain’t what church you join’
but what sort of a fellow comes in
when you jine.
A-w a y over yonder in the prom- ,
isedland! It ain’t a quarter of a
mile to heaven.
Boys, when you come in don’t go
in a hospital unless you’r bad olf. I
Lots of the fellows were not ma
king schedule time when I got here.
Some people will talk about Sam
Jones’ converts and say they won’t
stand. If y r ou are God’s converts
you will stand when the stars are
