How dear to our hearts is the
old yellow pumpkin, when orch
ards are barren of stuffiing for
pies, when peaches and apples both
have been a failure, and berries
of no kind have greeted our eyes.
How fondly we turn to the fruit
of the cornfield —the fruit that our
children are taught to despise—
the old yellow pumpkins, the mud
covered pumpkin, the big-bellied
pumpkin that makes such good
pies.—Harrisburg (Pa ) News.
