A Double Crop of Apples.
On a Long Igland farm is an apple tree
which bore two crops of fruit the past year,
and the farmers are taking unusual interest
in this peculiarity of nature. Just as much
interest has been shown in Hostetter’s Stom
ach Bitters, which has the peculiarity of cur
ing dyspepsia, indigestion, constipation and
blood disorders that other remedies fail to
benefit. In chronic cases It rarely fails, and
it cures whenever a cure Is possible.
Nearly all skin diseases are supposed to bb

as saying concerning Europeans:
“They certainly do not know how to
amuse themselves. You never see
them enjoy themselves by sitting upon
their ancestors' graves. They jump
around and kick balls as if lhev

find them making long tramps into
the country: but that Is probably a
religious duty, for when they tramp
they wave sticks into the air, nobody

at the same table with women and the

NERVOUS DEPRESSION.
[A TALK WITH MRS. PINKHAM.]
A woman with the blues is a very un
comfortable person. She is illogical,
unhappy and frequently hysterical.
The condition of the mind known as
“ the blues,” nearly always, with wo
men, results from diseased organs of
generation.
It is a source of wonder that in this
age of advanced medical science, any
person should still believe that mere
force of will and determination will
overcome depressed spirits and nerv
ousnessinwomen. These troubles are
indications of disease.
Every woman who doesn’t under
stand her condition should write to
Lynn, Mass., to Mrs. Pinkham for her
advice. Her advice is thorough com
mon sense, and is the counsel of a
learned woman of great experience.
Head the story of Mrs. F. S. Bennett,
Westphalia, Kansas, as told in the fol
lowing letter:
“ Dear Mrs. Pinkham:—l have suf
fered for over two years with falling,
enlargement and ulceration of the
womb, and this spring, being in such
a weakened condition, caused me to
flow for nearly six months. Some time
ago, urged by friends, I wrote to you
for advice. After using the treatment
which you advised for a short time,
that terrible flow stopped.
“I am now gaining strength and
flesh, and have better health than I
have had for the past ten years. I
wish to say to all distressed, suffer
ng women, do not suffer longer, when
there is one so kind and willing to
aid you.”
Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Com
pound is a woman's remedy for wo
man’s ills. More than a million wo
men have been benefited by it.

QUEER LEGAL PROCEDURE.
How a Shrewd Lawyer Got the Right of Way
In Court.
Time is money, and to no one is tlie
truth of this better known than to j
some lawyers whose faces are seldom
seen In any court below the supreme, j
An instance occurred in the Municipal j
Court in Buffalo, N. Y., recently which ;
created amusement.
Judge Braunlein was hearing an ac- I
tion brought to recover a debt of SB, '
both parties to the case being Poles.
The court room was crowded with
witnesses, and his Honor had settled
down for a long ami hard-fought bat
tle between the two attorneys.
The first witness had been called
when Lawyer Locke entered the court
room. He looked over the assembled
crowd, bowed to the Judge, and then,
depositing his hat on one of the small
tables within the rail, prepared to wait
for the end of the case.
An hour passed and still the prose
cution kept calling witnesses and pil
ing up testimony. Mr. Locke had for
some time been fidgetlug in his chair,
and finally, when It seemed as though
the entire day would be occupied in
the hearing, he walked over to the at
torney for tlie plaintiff and touched
him on the shoulder.
"What is tlie amount Involved in
this case for which your client is
suing?” he asked.
“Eight dollars, Mr. Locke,” was the
reply.
“And the court costs?”
“About four more.”
“Will you take $12,” and consent to
a discontinuance of the case?” asked
Mr. Locke. “I have an important case
of my own and my time is too valu
able to waste if hero,”
“My client will consent to a discon
tinuance on payment of $12,” said the
attorney.
Mr. Locke drew a chair up to the
table, took his ('heck book from his
pocket, made out a check for sl2 and
handed it over. The ease was at
once discontinued and Mr. Locke had
the right of way.
He had only two or three witnesses;
there was no defence, and in a half
hour he was on his way back to his
office.
