Mrs. T. E. Abernathy and son,
Edward, of Chattanooga, were
guests of Mr. and Mrs Ebenezer
Bryant last week, and returned
to their home Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Sarah Stoddard of Selma,
Ala., who is visiting her daugh
ter, Mrs. J. D. Taylor, has been
ill during the past few days, but
is improving.
Mrs. T. J. Simmons is under
treatment of Dr. Boyd in Chatta
nooga. Mrs. Simmons has many
friends here who hope for her a
speedy recovery.
Miss Kate Simmons, who has
been visiting the family of Mrs.
G. J. Moyers, returned to her
home in Chattanooga Sunday af
ternoon. She was accompanied
by Miss Ada Moyers who will
spend some time with friends and
relatives in that city.
Rev. B. F. Hunt preached al
the Baptist church Sunday. At
the morning service the sermon
was based on Mark’s account of
the visit of the rich, young rul
er to Jesus; and at the evening
service, “The Choice of Moses’’
was the subject of the sermon.
Mr. Hunt was met by large con
gregations at both services.

Spelling Contest and Debate
The Scab Wright Literary So
ciety of Gore, Ga., has arranged
the following programmes: On
Sat urday night Feb. 27, there will
be a spelling contest between the
north and south side of the
Summerville road. Everybody in
the community is cordially invit
ed to take part. Uncle Sammy
Gordon, probably Hie best spell
er in Chattooga county, has prom
ised to be present. We will main
tain the best order and a nice
time is assured to all.
On March 6th, there will be a
special debate, subject, “Resolv
ed, That the Board of Education
of Chattooga county is detrimen
tal to the rural schools of said
County.” Affirmative, J. M.
Christian, M. S. Crain, and T. M.
Ballenger, challenge any three
men of the county to argue the
negative. Any who will accept
this challenge, please write the
secretary of t he society, Mi.ss Myr
tie Crain, Route 1, Summerville,
Ga., at once.
The same routine of order will
be preserved as at previous
meetings. We expect judges from
Rome to make the decision.
Later, we expect to have a
“mock trial” and will give the
program when the time is
deffinitely decided.

County Commissioners of Roads
and Revenues of said county, at
the regular February term, 1909,
establishing a change in public
road as marked out by commis
sioners of roads for Trion district
commencing at where said road
leaves the Broomtown road near
the line of lot of land No. 6,
thence following said last named
road across said lot about 200
yar<ls to the line of Mrs.
Allman, thence east to Godwin’s
line about 300 yards, thence east
about 400 yards along the line of
Godwin and Gilreath intersecting
the Summerville public road near
Gilreath’s house.
