While other trusts have been de
fending themselves in court the su
gar trust appears to have put in all
its available time in merrily plunder
ing the government by cheating the
customs. Now that the exposure has
been made and the trust charged with
stealing some 530.000,009, the public
might naturally expect severe penal
ties to be imposed and adequate res
titution made. But it is hinted that
the law of limitation will enable the
trust to escape.
It is not the man who never makes
a mistake that wins the greatest suc

be discouraged by his mistakes’learns
wisdom from them and thereby
reaches at last the goal of his ambi

WHEN TO STOP ADVERTISING.
Will a merchant who is wise
Ever cease to advertise?
Yes —when the trees grow upside
down;
When the beggar wears a crown;
When ice cream forms on the sun;
When the sparrow weighs a ton;
When gold dollars get too cheap;
When women, secrets keep.
When a fish forgets to swim;
When Satan sings a hymn;
When girls go back on gum;
When no politician schemes;
When mince pie makes pleasant
dreams;
When it’s fun to break a tooth;
When all lawyers tell the truth;
When the drummer has no brass—
When these things shall come to
pass
Then the man that’s wise
Will neglect to advertise.
