Dear Sir:
“As a man thinketh so is he.”
Our thoughts control our ac
tions. Man has power to con
trol his thoughts, but the free
dom given him places responsi
bilities on each individual and
determines his course of ac
tion.
By nature we are all inclined
to think and act wrong, thus
the world is a mad house until
a change takes place. This con
fused state of mind and the re
sults we obtain is so unsatis
factory causes man to seek some
deliverance from his present
surroundings. He cries out for
a guiding hand to point away
out.
So in' due time when man was
prepared thru sad experience,
His only son our Lord and
Christ appeared to guide the
ship out of darkness and dis
pain to the harbor of safety and
quiet peace. This way changes
man if he will accept the plan.
This we call a new birth, a new
thoughts and actions and starts

WE SOLICIT YOUR PATRONAGE
a fight against his former life.
At the first his progress is
slow. He is sometimes down on
his back then on his feet again.
He must never give up the
fight. This new creation is in
the battle to the end of time.
He must have help and instruc
tion all the while and lean not
on his own wisdom if he wins
the battle and becomes vic
torious. •
I am persuaded. The Lord ap
poihts some men to suffer the
way, to suffer much as they
point the way out of darkness
1 to lost souls. And we should be
very kind toward them while
they hold the cross, the only
hope man has of eternal life.

■ Dear Sir:
I am wondering what we as
■ citizens of Chattooga County are
I doing about or are going to do
i about the Ku Klux in our coun
ity -
When it gets to the place that
; a young 15-year old boy can’t
‘ I go to church without being stop
ped on his way home and ask-
■ ed where he had been and where
■ he was going, as if it were any
■ of their business.
L It was hard enough when the
• cowards scared grown people,
but any one that will cover up
I his face and even his tag on
> his car and scare a child, is
! as lowdown as anyone can get.
I am a widow with two chil-
■ dren and have to work and
■ leave them. How do you think I
“ am going to feel leaving them
: now while I work. I think if we
■ have any law in the county or
’ | state it is time they were get-
; ting busy. Although everyone
> knows we have at least one
, deputy who is a member of the
I so called Klan. I know I may
' be asking for trouble myself, but
■ am not afraid of anyone who'
I has to hide his face to do his
; dirty work.
: Are we going to do like Dade
r County and our sheriff turn his
>I back or is he going to try to get
help and stop these disgraceful
doings in our county?
And any mother that won’t
at least try to take care of her
own child is a mighty sorry
person, this boy is going back
to church when he wants to,
and he had better not be stop
ped anymore.
Signed his mother,
Mrs. Gertrude Wofford
