Social Events From Trion . . .
A large group of senior citi
zens and friends gathered at
Trion United Methodist
Church for their annual Old
Timers meeting on Labor Day.
Lots of reminiscing of days
gone by and showing snapshots
of families were enjoyed. The
pastor, Rev. David Autry, gave
the devotion while Mrs. Autry
thrilled the audience with a
solo, “Oh To Be Like Him.”
The bountiful meal was spread
in the fellowship hall of the
church and was enjoyed by all
present. Rev. A. A. Tanner and
Rev. Frank Lewis were special
guests, both recuperating from
recent illnesses. Everyone
present went home looking
forward to the next meeting on
Labor Day.
Mrs. Floyd Tomblin of Tate
spent a few days with her
grandchildren, children of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Eubanks, while
they attended the Banker’s
Association meeting held the
first of file week in Hilton
Head, S. C.
Friends of Clyde Fulton
and family extend to them
deepest sympathy in the death
of his mother, Mrs. Ruby
Fulton, who passed away early
Sunday morning.

misfortune of falling and

Club Visits Rome
Some 25 members of the
Trion Golden Age Club
attended lunch at The Joyful
Noise, the Christian supper
club in Rome, on Monday
afternoon.
The group, along with
approximately 126 members
from other golden age groups,
enjoyed a meal and
entertainment by three Rome
area ladies.

Homecoming
Draws 250
The New Bethel Baptist
Church Homecoming Sunday
was attended by approximately
250 persons celebrating the
church’s 35th anniversary.
The Corner Stone was laid
35 years ago, Sept. 12, 1942.
After the 11 a.m. service
with former pastor, Rev.
Robert Patterson, of Wood
station Baptist Church bringing
the message, a bountiful meal
was spread on the lawn of the
church.
In the afternoon the mem
bers and their guests gathered
back inside the church where
the afternoon was filled with
singing.
The Hymnsmen from Cleve
land, Tenn., along with several
local groups participated.
Seven churches were repre
sented at each service.
Among those attending
