On Thursday night, the I4th Inst,
Mr, George T. Hodgson, oi Athens,
was married to Miss India F Coker, of
Atlanta.
, The ceremony took place at 8J
o’clock, at the elegant mansion ot the
bride’s father, Mr. F. M. Coker,
on Washington street. At an early
hour the parlors were thronged with a
select cotnpany-rof friends who had
eome to witness the consummation of
the most ardent bopee of two jrounc
heart*. Rev. O A Evans pertormsd
the ceremony in a meet impressive
manner, and the happy pair, hereto
fore separate, henoeforlh one, re
ceived the congratulations duo to tbo
fulfillment ot “lOvs’s young dream.’,
A magnificent supper, worthy of the
occasion wss served, nnd the guests
departed wishing sll happiness to the
newly wedded couple.
Mr. Hodgson is a youug member
ofoneoftbeoldfamiliee of Athens.

Last evening, a reception was giv
en to the newly wedded pair, at the
residence of Mrs.ER Hodgson,[the
groom’s mother. 1 A large number of
friends had been invited, and tho oc
casion was a most happy one. Mr.
and Mrs. Hodgeon reoeived the com
pratulaliona of a large number of
friends, and it was one of the most
brilliant social events ot the season.

The other day, while Zera Semon

approached by a poor woman, with a
paper aiking tor aims. She waa bad
ly afflicted with cancer. Others had
given her fifty cents, and a dollar.

come with gratitude, and said: ‘Let
me put your name on this paper.’
‘No/ said be, ’never mind my name.
If I pnt it down, people might mie-
nndarstand my motive. You are
welcome to the money.’ That wu a
good deed, and showed a kind hurt.

Some of the parishioners and friends
of Rev. W. W. Wadsworth have
given him a fine suit of clothes. It

Wadsworth has many warm friends
in Athens, who are glad to do any
thing to show their esteem for him.

place Wednesday ti Prospect church,
and the sermon waa presetted by Rev
Joseph Kenney. Notwithstanding the
inclemency of the weather, the church
was filled with the neighbors and’
