for Mayor.

Dear Sir.—I desire to express, through
your columns, my heartfelt thanks to
the voters of the first waxd, who named
me as their candidate for the office of
mayor, and to the many voters of the
city at large who have tendered me
their support and urged me to permit
the use of my name in that connection.
On their account 1 regret exceedingly
that I must decline to he a candidate for
the office. Very respectfully,
