Another Little Smash.
Yesterday’s delayed passenger
train put ns on track of another lit-
t}e&jna8h-ttp 6Uthe B. A W. road. At
the 85 mile post a'robin frain whs
derailed and some eight or tenjtars
knoc}ced Info-foil, atearino, and;
igned for it In
thet a barrel of rbs'ih full off and
threw the’trhin from herbase by get
ting under the wheels. This, we
leirn, is Only the supposition. It
might hate been a short rail,' any
way the trttin was derailed, with the
above results. This is the second
mishap-under the new administra
tion. Last Sunday’s passenger train
hOd two' coaches thrown off. But
thbrdis one peculiarity about the
B. 4 W. accidents, no one ever gets
hurt seriously,' and only a few at all.
Well, there is one comforting thought
in connection with this matter—the
chances are that we will soon have a
road that is a road, and not' short
pings and a streak of rust.
Compulsory Pilotage.
The question of pilotage is now
engaging the minds of Congress. We
afo'pleased to see a disposition oh
the part of the ‘-powers thatb’e” to
leave that matter to each State id
regulate for Itself. Tpjs is rigjit;
and then'ijf any State puts, its pilot
age so high as to'drive off business,
then that will be its owh faiilt, ho
one’ else will be to blame for it.
