The Richmond A West Point Ter

this time gobbled up the great Cen
tral of Georgia. What next? It is
to be hoped they won’t get the B. <fc
W. and .the Waynesville <k Colonel’s
Island lines. If they do we are gone
sure.
The accident at the East Tennes-
*oo docks yesterday afternoon was
measured, in the first reports, by
”“what might. have been,’’ and not
rhat really did happen. “SevesffiBn
men killed and wounded’’ proved to
be only two men injured—-Mr. Bil-
lington, a foreman, struck in the
Head with the end of a pike pole, and
Wash Hopkins, a colored man, whose
legs wen badly braised. The great
timbers of the cotton warehouse were
being raised, several being mortised
together and forming a section of the
building. One of these sections were
being raised into position, held by
guy ropes and stays, when an over
confident darkey let his rope slip, and
the timbers began to totter. The
alarm was given, and the workmen
told to “look out for themselves.”—
The falling timbers struck the next
and each in succession pushed its
neighbor. Many of the workman
saved themselves by stopping be
tween the failing timbers, others ran
out at the sides, and one man jumped
overboard. Mr. Billington is at
work to-day, though he keeps in the
shade as mueh as possible.
The Y, M. C. A, “Gym” Class.
Tho young gentlemen athletes of
the Y. M. C. A. gavo a public exhibi
tion of their skill to admiring friends
last evening in their gymnasium un
der tho leadership of Mr. F. McC.
drown, which certainly showed a pro
ficiency not looked for. The young
gentlemen entered upon their labors
with real zest, and crowned them
selves with laurels. All did well—
remarkably well. After the main
features of tho evening were over
Messrs. Brown, Balch and Gunby
gavo exhibitions of their specialties
that were equal to professionals.
* The young gentlemen seemed to
enjoy the exercise very much, and
the guests present, particularly the
ladies, went home feeling that their
labors for the Y. M. C. A. were not

will be at the hall, when the whole
