Engineer Lamont, of the Egmont,
received a telegram this morning an
nouncing the death of his only-
daughter, Mrs. Carrie Ryan, of Sa
vannah. He will leave to attend the
funeral on the afternoon train. The
mother is in Jacksonville, and there
fore debarred by quarantine from be
ing present at the last sad moment.
Susie Bizzard and Catherine Gol
den, two colored damsels hired a
buggy and horse from Putnam’s and
started yesterday for a drive. They
took aboard too much whiskey, and
wound up the -frolic by a row in
which the former stuck a knife into
the shoulder of the other, causing
her to bleed like a pig in the hands
of the butcher, and saturating tho
lap robe and cushions.

Marshal Dart haa one of the beat
little guns in this town and he knows
just how to use It. He left the city
yesterday morning on the 7 o'clock
train for Tison’a paaturc. Ho re
turned on the noon train with four,
fine turkeys. Meeting the Marshal
yesterday afternoon we asked, him
how he succeeded in getting so many.
