We propose to have the
wharf line of this city definately set
tled at an early date by Lieutenant
Carter and his corps of engineers.
As soon as that is done the govern

and hereafter there .will hemo en

front. A lot owner who has not
enough depth to his lot on this line,
will have to dredge for same..

The city council is again at work
on the guano question. There has
been considerable “backing and Ail
ing” on this question and we should
hate to see the same renewed. If
tho smell of guano' is not a good
tlijng for the nostrils of boarders at
tho Oglethorpe, neither is it a fair
thing for those of tho Ocean hotel,
and if not good for those, why should
it be good for our citizens, who have
to stantl it all the time. Mind your
stops, gentlemen. -

Paralysis toflowed, ami the sick
woman has not left her bed in sev
eral months, until the end.
Through all of this, Mrs. Hardy,
though herself a poor lady, has
been a friend indeed. Mrs. Steven
son claimed to bo a Presbyterian,
and some help has been derived from
that denomination in this city, and
also from the city, though upon Mrs.
Hardy has fallen the heavy burden
of care and otherwise, and too much
cannot be said in hhr praise.
Young Stevenson was telegraphed

Saturday’s Primary.
Thitgs are getting somewhat mix
ed in the political pot of the city. The
Primary offered seemed to be the so
lution sought and all hands were go
ing into it, so far as we could learn,
but in the meantime the opponents
of Dr. Madden, who was spoken of
as one of the probable Aldermen,
pnblisbcd a card requesting their
crowd to stay away from tho polls
Saturday, and now tho friends of the
Doctor request his supporters to stay
away also and await tho results of
the f regnlar election. To our mind,
the Primaiy is the place to settle
these differences so that the interest
of the candidate for the Mayoralty
•hall not be in any way impaired.
Come together gentlemen and talk
over your grievances.
The injured heard from. Yes
poor fellows they arc blowing now,
but no use tor them to cry, our low
prices ere born to win.

That Dinner!
Reader, if Marshal Dart and his
good wife ever invite you to a six
clock wild turkey dinner, accept
promptly, and our word for it, yon
will never regret it, unless you be of
that unfortunate class who never
know when they have enough.
Among the guests present last
evening at such a repast were Messrs,
M. Madden, H. J. Read, A. C.
Blain, E. A. Nelson and the Senior,
all of whom discussed the viands be
fore us in a manner that ought at
least to be satisfactory to the hostess,
Never was a meal better enjoyed, for
everything was cooked jast light
and served without the formalities of
swell dinner. Mrs. Dart was voted
hostess worthy of imitation, and as
the party wended their way home,
the writer tried to think up a nice
verse of poetry to describe his emo
tions, but could only recall “Mary
had a little lamb,” but that would
never do, for it was a turkey dinner
and not a lamb dinner.
Low prices. Our low prices does
the business, so gentlemen when you

Another big Enterprise on Ta
pis.
Mr. W. A. Jeter appeared before
Council last evening, in the interest
of n cotton mill to be located here.
He stated that the money could be
raised, provided a proper site can be
furnished. He and his company
stated that they would not only put
up a cotton mill, but a woolen mill
also, if the supply of raw material
could be found in sufficient quanity
to keep such a mill in successful op
eration. He asked Council to do
nate a suitable tract of 40 acres
somewhere near the line of the B. A
W. track in the upper end of the
city, and that the plant be exempt
from taxes for ten years. Mr. leter
stated that they would employ at
least two hundred hands, at the
start, and possibly one thousand.
Notice to the Registered Voters.
Inasmuch as a few persons have
publicly stated that they would not
abide by the result of tho primary
called for Saturday tho I7th, Inst (in
the event of Dr. Madden’s nomina
tion) the friends of Dr. Madde.n havo
also decided to nbandon tho idea of
a primary, and await the result of
tho election on Decomber 8tb, with
pleasure. , Voters.

The above it recognized as the big
gest question that ever presented It
self to the City Council of Bruns
wick. If that body had the mean*
at their disposal it would indeed be
no easy ond to solve, but not having
that, tbe great problem Is, where U
It to come from. The issuing of
bonds seems to be the only
plan—-tbe legallty or which is the
only stumbling block in the way.
Tho Constitution forbids a^y oil/
having a bonded debt over 7 per
cent on all taxable property,
minds differ as to the exact
of this law as "to its application to
