In a recent lecture, at Tbiladfljpbia, she said:
In Madrid she had seen the students throw
down their cloak in the dust to form a carpet
for a beautiful woman to cross th street up
on, And it is not unusual to see the common
people follow a beautiful woman with such
exclamations as “Blessed be the mother that
gave birth to such beauty,” And in Poland
abe had seen a lady’s shoe taken from her
foot and filled with champagne, and passed
up and down the table by all the gentlemen
for a drinking cup ; but this was a piece ol
I gallantry'which could only be paid to a lady
