AGENTS’ GETTING RICH! t
The anion df Emerson’s Magazine and Put
nam's Monthly has given to the consolidated work
a circulation second to but one similar publication in
the country, and has secured for it a combination of
literary and artistic talent probably unrivalled by
aoy other magazine in thd world. Dnring tbe first
month, the tale in the trade and demand from sub
scribers exceeded 99,000 conies, and the numbers
already issued of the oonsofiauted work are univer
sally conceded to have surpassed, in the richness of
their literary contents, and the beauty aud profuse
ness of their pictorial illustrations, any magazine ev
er before issued from the American press. Encour
aged by these evident** of favor, the publishers
have determined to commence tbe new volume iu
January with still additional attractions, and to offer
such inducements to subscribers as cannot fail to
place it,fa circulation, at the head of American mag
azines. With this view they uow announce tho fol
lowing splendid programme. They have purchased
that superb and costly steel-plate engraving, . .
“THE LAST SUPPER,”
and will present a copy of it to every three dollar
subscriber for the yefr 1858. It was’ engraved at a
cost of over $6,000, by the late celebrated A. L.
Dick, from the origin#! of Raphael Morghcn, after
Leonardo Da Vinci, and is top largest steel-plate en
graving ever executed in this country, being three
times the size of the ordinary three dollar engra
vings.
The first Impressions of this engraving arc held at
$lO, audit was tbe intentjon of the artist that noue
of tbe engravings should ever be offered for a less
sum than $5, being richly worth that amount. Thus
every three dollar subscriber will receive the maga
zine one year—cheap at $3 —and this splendid eu
graving riohly worth $5; thus getting for $3 the
valneof SB. .
We shall commence striking off (he engravings
immediately, yet it.can hardly be expected that im-’
pressions of so large a pl.ite can be taken as fast as
they will bo called for by subscribers. We shall,
therefore, furnish them in the order in which sub
scribers are received. ThoSe who desire to obtnin
their engravings early, and from the firstiinpressums,
should send in thdir subscriptions without delay.—
The engraving can be sent on rollers, by mail, or in
any other manner, as subscriber* -shall order.

In addition to tbe superb engravingot “the last
