It appears tha* the Atlanta Constitu

Savannah News:—Bayard “boom is

We produce in this weeks issue an
article from Trentrn on tobacco. The
ideas contained therein are good, and if
practiced, by our people would greatly
increase the wealth of our country. IIi iS
estimates of ’the amount *c<msumo 1 by
our citizens frt first thought appears to
.be rather large. But whin we consider
wv'i' muke calculations, we find them
about correct, if anything rather to low.
Our climate nn 1 soil is well adapted
to the culture of tobacco. It could by
made very profitable in this county,
will not some of enterprising citizens
give it a trial.
We know it gVofv.s well, and has
ample time to mat : vs, ami by properly
manufacturing could be made a nmu'oe

The Philadelphia Inquirer, a r -> <lcr

tic over the rebublican prospects tor the
approaching Presidential election. In
a table, which it says is “the best that
can be dime in the way of presenting a
table ol the electoral vote of 1880 favor
able th the repualican party,” it gives
as certain Democratic States all tha
Southern States and Indiana, making
one hundred and fifty-three electoral

with fifty electoral, votes, sud claiming
the remaining Noithcrn and Western

There arc necessary to a choice one

republicans will not have, even il the
fifteen votes of New Jersey and C'onneti

sixty six, unless they get New York, anil
which, and more, the Democrats will
have if they get New York. That, in

Mr. editor —I Policed an article in

it takes a grant deal more land in tliis

buy it. Six thonsaud dollars go out ot
the county, except the profits mam 1,

Our mountain affords plenty of the

One mile from this place, on top of the
