“Young fools that marry.” Parents
say there is “more truth than poetry”

Chattanooga Times: P. B. Smith,

a position as book-keeper for Howaid,
Glover & Ewing. Mr. Smith is a
young nwa of fine business qualifica
tions, and trie house is to be congrat
ulated upon securing his services.
Mr. A. A. McLemore, who has been
connected with the newspapers of

married at the residence of the bride’s
mother on Cherry street in Chattanoo
ga last Thursday evening to Miss
Hamiria E. Webb. The happy cou
ple has our best wishes for future life.
Mr. J. M. Sfcttow, one of the nicest,
energetic and accommodating emigrant
agents in the world, sent about two
hundred emigrants over the Memphis
& Charleston rotni last week t\ v . differ
ent points wit West, and will send as
many more this week. Thii speaks

fuses to pay his subscription on the
ground that three, or six, or ten months
ago as may best suit his convenience,
he failed to receive a certain copy of
the paper. Now, it is our purpose
when A copy is Vest!, or goes estray iu
the mails, to send a duplicate-, when
notified in a reasonable time, but to
have subscubers put us off in the pay
ment of their subscription on such pei
ty pretext is annoying, and we put
such parties down as either very care
less oh else partially developed dead
beats. Kind readers, if you kno# of
any of your neighbors who h*s treated
us thus, don't mention the matter as
we don’t like to have them think that
wo would pass uncomplimentary re
marks about them. Remember, this

Last Monday night, while Mr. Geo.
W. Cureton and his clerk, Mr. Max
Corput were at Supper, a thief effected
an entrance into their store by break
ing the hack door dfowA . Tie secured
the mcney drawer by prizing the com
bination l<it*k down so as t j slide uiwioi
the catch. Besides the money draw
he todk some clothing and about 100
pounds ot meat, The drawer contained
the day’s sales, wWich amonnteito
about SSO, exclusive of two money
orders ot sl4. drawer war found
next morning down on the Furnace
railroad. The thief is supposed to be
a negro enfi (Joyed at the furnace, as a
suspicious character was seen standing
around the store about dark.
