' "TRAFFIB IN 8OUL8” A WONDER
FUL SERMON.
One of the most Intensely human.
| thrilling and at the same time real in-
I tic, picture-dramas that has ever been
| seen In Augusta, Is tile mammoth six
reel feature, which opened a three
days engagement at ihn Grand Thur*
day, matinee, to an enthusiastic au
dience. The picture, entitled “Traffic
In Souls," leaves nothing tu be ex
plained. It is so completely and clever
ly worked out. It Is based on actual
re|ioris of the Rockefeller Investigat
ing Committee and that of New
York's district attorney In the sup
pression of the nefarious business of
the traffic In women, which, until re
cently had reached an appalling stage
in New York, as well as other large
cities of th“ country.
The cast of characters which In
cludes some of the best known nnd
cleverest artists In the moving-picture
world, has been carefully selected. A
splendid story has been woven Into
the mesh of tho drama, which gives
It Just the proper seasoning of ro
mance, and which does not in the
least detract from the main story. At
no time is any point ovefdrawn, as la
tOO iftso the 0000 In most picture
fiction-drama. It Is Just a graphic de
llniatlon of the horrible traffic as it
is carried on In the larger cities, es
pecially New York. The system, from
the aristocratic head to the humblest
hireling, is portrayed as in no otner
picture of the kind has ever been at
tempted.
The picture will be shown at the
Grand today and tomorrow, matinee
and evening.
"ADELE."
One of the most expensive as well
as greatest singing, organizations trav
eling is that presenting the reigning
musical success of many seasons.
“Adele,” the French operetta which
comes to the Grand next Wednesday,
matinee and evening.
“Adele" is bv those well-known
authors and collaborators, Paul Herve
and Jean Briquet, and was made over
for the American stage by Adolf Phil
lip and Edward Paulton, the latter
gentleman having given to this coun
try, the greatest and most successful
opera ever produced on this side of
the water, “Ermlnle.”
In plot its story is so well con
nected that any and all of the twenty
one real song hits could be lifted and
you would see one of the best farces
ever produced.
“Adele” will be presented here with
the same extravagant mounting that
characterized its metropolitan engage
ment and a singing organization
equalling that of the once famous Bos
tonians. The cast includes Carolyn
Thomson. John Park. Nannette Flack,
Lottie Vincent, George O’Donnell t
Alfred Kappler, Jules Epsilly, Ralph
Nairn, Lawrence Knapp and the fa
mous “Adele" beauties. A symphony
orchestra will enhance the beauty of
a most brilliant score.
