said to be the largest quantity of the
drug the police here have ever seized at
one' time, were seen last night in the
office of the lieutenant at police head
quarters In addition there are one hun
dred and ninety-three empty bottles, al
leged to have contained cocaine. The
police say that Howard’s place, where
the raid was made, is at 711 Twiggs
street.
f'pon furnishing bond in the sum of
62.000, Howard was released. His case
will likely be tried at the next term of
the city court.
Pelham Chief of Police
Indicted For Murder
Pelham, Ga.—After an investigation
lasting through yesterday and today,
the; Mitchell county grand jury return

der.
Campbell killed John Harrell on a
sheet of Pelham, Sunday afternoon. No

As Campbell is wounded, it is not
known whether the case will be tried at
this term of court or not.
Free Drinking Cups on
All Trains Are Sought
Atlanta, Ga.—At the meeting Thurs
day of the R R Commission all railroads
of the state were required to provide
sanitary drinking cups in stations and
coaches, the same to be vended from a
machine at a cost not to exceed one
cent each.
On motion of Commissioner Perry, all
roads in the state were cited to appear
before the commission May Ist and show
cause why the clause "one cent for
each cup” should not be stricken from
the order, thus making drinking cups
free.
Eatonton Man Dead From
Splinter in His Finger
Aatoton, Ga.—After an illness of only j
a few days of tetanus, Leon D. Jones, of |
this city, and formerly of Syracuse, N. i
Y., died last night at the home of his
stepson, C. M. A. Smith. The remains ]
were carried to New York this morn- |
ing for interment.
Several days . ago Mr. Jones, who
was 76 years of age,' stuck a splinter In
his finger Tetanps set in from . the
wound, after a few hours, and he died j
in a few days.
He was the son of Cornelius R. Jones. |
