Local Team Defeated by Score
of Six to One in First Game
of Series in Charleston.
Charleston. S. C—Eldridge won his
fourth consecutive game of the sea
son yesterday when Charleston de
feated Augusta, 6 to 1. His pitching
and fielding was a feature of the
game. Twice with the bases full anu
none out he retired the visitors score
less. Hamilton's triple and double
drove in four runs. Charleston made
the first triple play of the Sally League
this year in the sixth inning, Eldridge
to Hamilton and Bernsen. Charles
ton kicked on Sabrie’s black bat, and
Umpire Moran after measuring it
ruled it out of the game as being of
more than regulation circumference.

Albany, Ga.—Albany won the open
ing game of the series from Columbus
yesterday by a score of 6 to 5, Coch
ran’s double tieing it up and Erwin’s
single winning it. Seven of Colum
bus’ twelve bits were of the infield
variety. Frank Manush assumed the
managerial reins yesterday and,
while not in the game, figured on the
voasring lines. Wells remains as
catcher of the Albany club. The hit
ting of Cochran was the feature of
the game.
