Mr. Hickman Wires That Augusta's
Chance to Land the Next Meeting of
Cotton Manufacturers Are Good
President of the American Cotton Manufacturers Association
Says That Meeting Place Next Year Referred to Governing
Board and Augusta Has Fine Chance.
President Tracy I. Hickman, of the
American Cotton Manufacturers’ As
sociation, lias wired The Herald that,
nil invitations for the 1915 meeting
oT the association have been referred
to the governing board with power to
act and that Augusta’s chances are
pood. Mr. Hickman was wired by
The Herald to ascertain where the
next convention will be held.
It Is believed very strongly that,
the association will accept Augusta's
invitation to meet here next year and
in this event there will be over 800
delegates in attendance. One of the
United Mine Workers-of America, who
wag In telephone communication with
the strikers, called upon Col. Verde
beekberg In Walaenburg to agree to
an hour ’s truce to consider terms of
surrender. ft was said the strikers
agreed to deliver their arms to the
soldiers provided they were not held
prisoners. To this it was said Col. Ver
debeckberg agreed. It was arranged
that seven officers were to go forward
to receive the arms of the strikers as
they filed past.
Cesse Firing.
Col. Verdebeckberg so Informed the
millltia and they ceased firing. The
officers it was stated advanced a con
elderable distance and the strikers left
their position, passed the militia and
then renewed firing.
It was at this moment that Major
Lester was killed. During the lull In
battle he had gone forward to the aid
of Private Glen Miller, who. had fallen
150 feet from the point at which the
■Strikers then wen. So hot was the
fire that the militiamen were unable
to advance to the point where Major
Lester's body lay and were fully occu
pied In defending themselves.
For two hours more the fighting
continued and finally the strikers
withdrew carrying their guns with
them. ,

GREAT SUFFERER FROM
FIVER AND STOMACH
Used Many Different Remedies With No Result But Finally
Succeeded with Thedford’s Black-Draught.
Ridgeway, Va.—Prof. T. A. Walker,
of this town, says: "Twenty odd years
ago, I became a teacher. The work
was very confining and did not then
very well agree with my health, and
soon I became a great sufferer from
liver and stomach troubles.
I used many kinds of liver and
stomach remedies, but from none of
these did I receive anything more than
temporary relief. Yet, It seemed that
I was compelled to take some kind of
liver and stomach medicine. I became
despondent and hardly knew what to
do.
Along about this time Thedford's
Black-Draught was recommended to

me. I bought some and began its use.
It did not take me long to discover
that I was using a superior medicine.
It thoroughly cleansed my liver and
stomach, and gave me an almost
ravenous appetite. My Indigestion
soon passed away, and so did my
brown greasy-looking complexion. In
short, I felt like a new being.
Now, I keep Black-Draught on hand
all the time, and take it occasionally.
I cannot afford to be without It. If
I ever have a sick spell, I take Black-
Draught, and It always brings relief.
I verily believe that Black-Draught Is
the best liver and stomach medicine
that ever was made.”
