Atlanta, Ga. —The Atlanta Georgian
yesterday printed the following:
Hugh M. Dorsey, solicitor general of
i the Atlanta circuit of the superior court
I of Georgia, is to be a candidate for the
I democratic nomination for the governor
ship.
While no formal announcement to that
effect has been given out directly by
j Mr. Dorsey himself, the fact that he is
|to enter the forthcoming primary for
the chief magistracy of the state comes
from sources of the most dependable
and authoritative kind, and the solicitor
himself does not deny that lie is to try
for the governorship.
Thousands of Them.
Dorsey has been the recipient literal
ly of thousands of letters, telegrams and
! verbal petitions of late that he make the
I race for the governorship, and, while it
jis a fact that he attached far less im
portance to these communications in the
beginning than he has of late, it in
known that lie has been impressed for
i some time with the idea that there is a
I real, genuine and far-reaching demand
j that he permit the people an opportunity
to say whether he shall go higher in the
public service.

the most famous criminal rase in the

The Telephone a Community Builder
A TELEPHONE system, like the street cars, is an aid to the
city’s growth and suburban development. It makes it con
venient for the city-employed man to live in the suburbs or
country.
“Handy to business” now means a pretty suburban resi
dence or a home in the real country.
Factories are built where land is cheap.
The population of the over-crowded cities flows out into the
country, relieving unsanitary conditions and improving the gen
eral health of the community.
The telephone has brought the city and country closer to
gether.
The Bell Telephone system is aiding in the upbuilding and
growth of 70,000 communities, and giving impetus to the “back
to the land” movement.
